OLD Chapter 1

.•♫•♬•Asahi POV•♬•♫•.

It has only been one week since the practice game against Nekoma High and Asahi's return to Kurasuno's volleyball team but the alpha had already gotten used to smelling the small omega as Nishinoya came down the hallway to fetch him from his classroom."ASAHI!!!," yelled Noya as he slammed the door open, startling Asahi in the process. Asahi breathed in the sweet scent of orange that accompanied the little omega before grabbing his things and exiting into the hallway."You know you don't have to come get me before practice every day. I'll still come," Asahi said while the two made their way down the hall towards the gym the familiar scents of their teammates filling their noses.

Out of the 12 players on the team, only four of them are betas, which is uncommon. The population consists of 90% betas so to see so many alphas and omegas is rare. In order to protect themselves and others, alphas and omegas who play competition team sports will mate early, usually with someone else on their team. This assists with helping the omegas not get taken advantage of and vice versa for the alphas.

"Nishinoya," said Asahi looking at the small boy next to him," why haven't you mated yet? You're just putting yourself in danger by waiting." Nishinoya looked at him and said," I could ask you the same question. I'm just kidding. Truth is I'm not sure if the person I'm interested in even likes me," this made Asahi's alpha instinct kick. The omega that he liked just admitted that he liked someone seriously enough to want to bond with them, it must be Kiyoko... but she's a beta... "Isn't Kiyoko-san a beta?" asked Asahi. Nishinoya stiffened at his question before simply stating," Yes, she is but it's not Kiyoko-san that I'm interested in. Anyways, Asahi reel in your scent you're scaring the first years." Asahi looked around and saw that Yachi and Hinata were looking at him weirdly as he unconsciously was letting out protective pheromones while talking with the omega.

"Guys let's go get changed," yelled Daichi while exiting the gym. All of the others followed him to the club room.

The sweet musky scent of cinnamon folded around me as soon as I mentioned that I like someone. Normally an alpha's scent that was this strong would make me want to submit immediately but this felt different, the smell made me want to curl into his neck and nuzzle him. WAIT. These are protective pheromones... but why? I know that he's an alpha and all but I'm not his omega, well not yet at least ;), these sorts of pheromones are only used around things that are his when he feels threatened. I quickly told him to reel in his scent before I gave into my instincts, however I blamed it on the first years who were giving him weird looks. Daichi yelled at us to go change and we all made our way to the club room.

The room was full of people putting on scent blocking patches and taking suppressants. I had mine, but I wanted to test the waters with Asahi a bit. "Hey Asahi do you have any patches that I can borrow? I forgot mine at home," I asked while popping a chewable suppressant in my mouth. Asahi searched in his bag before turning to me," sorry Noya, I don't have any clean patches. You can use a dirty one if you want but you'll end up smelling like me for the next hour or two," he said a little apprehensively. I knew well enough to know that Asahi wouldn't have any clean patches today, today was Friday and he did laundry today after practice, he had just used his last set of clean patches. "That's fine with me, I like how you smell anyways," Noya said as he plastered a big grin on his face. Asahi blushed a to shade of red Noya didn't even think was feasible for humans before handing him two patches. Noya put them on, relishing the way he felt as the alpha's scent coated him before finishing up and sprinting back the gym.

Asahi's scent glands swelled as the scent of orange mingled with the stronger scent of cinnamon while the omega put on the patches. He could feel some of the others tense up as their combined scent filled the small room, alphas pulling their omegas closer to them and scenting before leaving. Kageyama even went as far as to run his teeth over the bond mark he had left on Hinata, making the omega submit before leading him out of the club room. Nishinoya had already left but Asahi could still smell the tension in the air. It was going to be an interesting practice session.

"Listen up everyone," Coach Ukai said loudly," we only have one week before the tournament begins, so I want everybody to train as hard as they can. Which means no skipping practice. Now don't go getting too excited, our team is evenly split up by the three classes which puts us at a higher risk for disqualification. I don't want a single one of you to be forced to sit out the match because your heat or rut hit." Coach Ukai finished his speech and then told us to go get changed and go home. Noya pulled off the patches that I lent to him, handing them back to me with a big smile on his face," thank you Asahi!" I looked his cute grinning face and felt my heart melt a little bit," do you want me to walk you home today?" I ask a bit sheepishly. " Sure!," he exclaims ," you can even stay over if you want to." I was a little taken aback by that but quickly came to my senses, " I have to do laundry tonight but if you want to stay over at my place then that's fine. I'll even wash your patches for you," I replied. Noya nodded enthusiastically and we gathered our things and left.

The walk home was quiet but not awkward, a comfortable silence filling the air as we walked to my house to grab sleepover stuff. I was still drenched in his scent which made me happy. We got to my house and went inside, me dashing upstairs to grab my things while he stayed downstairs and chatted with my mom. My mom's nose twitched as soon as I got downstairs," Yuu darling that's not your normal scent. Is there something you're not telling me?" she had a good nose despite being a beta. I was about to explain when Asahi piped up," sorry ma'am that's my scent, Noya forgot his patches today and asked to borrow mine but I didn't have any clean ones so he had to use a dirty pair," he explained. My mom furrowed her brows before shrugging and handing me a box of homemade scones. " Make sure to take a bath when you get to Asahi's tonight at least," she said to them before giving Nishinoya a hug," wow, your two scents mix well together. Have fun boys!!"

She waved goodbye to us as we walked down the driveway chatting about random things. It was only when we reached Asahi's house that I realized.

I had forgotten my suppressants.

A/N

I finally got the first chapter done aaaaaaaaa. Writer's block and self doubt for the past few days. Also had to proof this on my tablet because my mom needed my laptop for something after her's broke. I literally proofed this thing during homeroom while pretending to actually go to school. Yes I am aware that I need help.
