"Welcome home Will, how was your day?" I greeted him cheerily as he enters the door. He smiled back and gave me a quick kiss on the cheek.
"Tiring but worth it, how's my darling?" then he looked at the table and gave me a questioning look. "Is there an occasion I don't know about?"
I placed the bowl of salad and lit the candle in the middle. The table was decorated with floral tablecloth with rose petals scattered around and a candle on the center giving it a simple but romantic vibe. I cooked Will's favorite steak, some salad and for dessert because I got lazy bought a tub of ice cream. I smiled at him secretly opening a bottle of red wine, well, that's only for him but how I wish I could drink it too. "Change first into something more comfortable then come back" Will shrugged and obeyed removing his shoes and bringing his things into the bedroom. I tossed the salad one more time and prepared the needed utensils. Five minutes later, Will was dressed in a simple white shirt and in his pajamas.
"Now can you tell me what's going on?" he queried
"Okay, the reason I prepared of all this is, for you and also. . . take a bite while I go get something" I smiled excitedly. I went to the bedroom and fished out the picture. Returning, Will took a sip of his wine.
"The steak is full of flavor, and cooked nicely" he complimented.
"Thank you, and also here. Have a look" I placed the ultrasound picture on the table. His eyes widened at the sight and looked at me then on the table, back at me again then at the table. His expression turned into excitement and glee with a hint of nervousness.
"When?" he whispered as if talking to the photograph.
"Almost a month ago, I'm sorry I didn't tell you so soon. I just wanted to be sure and I was a bit afraid that you might be angry with me" I answered sadly.
He frowned looking at me "Why would I be angry about something like this? This is wonderful, almost too good to be true"
"Maybe because you aren't ready to be a dad and then when I tell you it'll hit you like a bomb?" I bit my lip.
He stood up and wrapped his arms around my shoulder giving a light squeeze. I placed my nose on his chest inhaling his manly scent, leaning into him, I wrapped my arms around his waist.
"You have no idea how happy you made me feel Korra. I promise that I'll try to be the best dad and husband to both of you. I'll protect you always and keep you safe. Do you already know it's gender?"
His chest vibrated at each word making me nuzzle onto him. "No, I don't know yet. I want it to be a surprise but if you want to. . "
"No. no. That's what I prefer also. We'll wait until it comes out" Will sniffed.
I pulled away from his embrace and held his head "Are you crying?" I teased.
"No, of course not" he furiously wiped his eyes with the back of his hand. I chuckled lightly swatting away his arm and gently dabbed napkin on his eyelids.
We were silent for a moment trying to absorb everything, well mostly for him because me, I may look like the perfect wife material but I knew the truth and this conscience would eventually eat me alive. Is this the right time to tell him? Maybe not, he's too happy and I don't want to ruin the surprise for him.
"I could have accompanied you to the doctor during your check ups if I had known sooner" his face full of concern.
"I knew you were busy and I am fine. I don't take my bike anymore instead I ride the bus and the doctor is very approachable so, no worries"
"Still, it's my responsibility. You are, both of you" his voice stern but soft.
"I'm sorry"
Will placed a stray strand of hair behind my ear caressing my cheek "Don't be. I'm not angry you didn't tell me just surprised. Does that explain the sardines full of mayonnaise and the weird obsession you have with the cookies?"
I laughed remembering his quote "Yes and that tasted divine and also with the mood swings"
Will gagged "Never in a million years would I dare to taste what you ate"
"Hush now and finish your dinner" I stuck my tongue out to him.

"Good morning Tasha" I greeted cheerily.
"Someone's in a good mood today" her vibe matching my own.
"Not really, just the usual happy me. So, how many do I have today?" I leaned onto the counter twirling my hair.
"Your a bit famous today, five clients"
Whoa, "Are all of them new?"
"Yep" she answered popping the p sound "Oh, and one of them is already here"
I turned around facing the door, a brown and white Siberian husky walked in followed by the owner holding the leash. The guy removed his glasses and I stood very still. He wore black tattered jeans and a gray shirt. The moment he laid eyes on me, surprise mixed with amusement featured his face. My whole body was stiff and as he approached closer, I could tell that he was enjoying my discomfort.
"Good morning Mr. Smiles, this is Korra your groomer for today" Tasha introduced us formally not having any idea of the change in the atmosphere.
"Good morning" I spoke nervously not taking my eyes of his. He nodded not saying a word, his mischievous smile taunting my irritation.
"Korra will lead you to a booth, Korra?" Tasha was indicating I had to get a move on, still not having any idea on what's happening.
I cleared my throat and spoke dryly "This way, Mr. Smiles" I gritted my teeth.
