A few hours later, feeling better and much more refreshed,
I looked around the hospital ward furtively - i did not want a repeat of getting caught and having to make up an awkward excuse for getting out of bed. i crept down the room, beds on all sides, and most patients lying peacefully asleep- except for the ones that tossed and turned in their dreams, calling out to long lost friends and lovers. my heart tugged when i saw my mum, lying exhausted on a chair in the reception, faithfully waiting until morning came and she could take me back home-only i would be gone.
i hurried to a bus stop which was as dark as the night itself. its feeble three walls was poor and impotent shelter for which to stand in. i stood patiently by the bus stop. The aftershock of knowkng what had happened still preying on my mind, eating up part of my heart.
my bus arrived nd carried me far, far into the blackness, calm of night. i caught a few leery looks from drunken young men and i curled my lip in disgust. they were pathetic excuses for humans, half of what they should be. the steady throb of the engine calmed my drifting, whirling thoughts and feelings and lulled me into a half sleep...
i was jerkily woken when the bus can to a sudden stop and the bus driver shouted "Isci!"
One of the young men who had been leering at me earlier took his chance to goad me."not so high and mighty now is you - your drooling on the bus!" my face turned beet red. thankfully this was my stop and i tried to get off the bus with still some pride.
the light grey of dawn was approaching, and a faint rainbow as outlined in the cloudy sky. the first rays of sunlight lightly danced across the silhouetted village in the distance. i broke into a run- i wanted to get to my hometown as fast as i could. however, five minutes later, i felt like i was melting into a puddle of sweat and heat. my breath quickened and became laboured and the village was getting no closer. just as i was about to give up, a car pulled up beside me. the windows were scrolled down to reveal the person i thought i would never see again...
"Hey you!" i shouted "you killed my dad! "
"so what if i did?" Carl Lawson said with a smirk."i warned you didn't i?"
FLASHBACK:
echoed shouts bounded of the tiles of my hiding place, the man crouched next to me was a convict and a serial killer. he had forced me at gunpoint to hide him from the policemen that were trying to find and kill him. moments later, the shouting died down and Carl Lawson went on his way whispering as he went "you tell one person that you even saw my face, they are dead" he left me shaking and pale. a few years later, i told my dad about my ordeal.
END OF FLASHBACK
I was wracked with guilt and misery, so much so that i didn't care that Carl drove his car off "see ya never!"he shout gleefully. a few minutes later i remembered that i was trying to hunt him down. the next Taxi that passed, i asked for a lift "follow that car!" i yelled.
