I am going to be late to class again. Why does this always happen to me? My first year of college and I’m already going to mess it up. I just couldn’t bring myself to get up in the mornings. All my popularity in high school vanished as soon as I came here. I had no friends. People in class seem to just turn the other way and not notice me. I went from being an honor student in high school to making C’s. Not only that, but I hated my job at the deli more and more everyday. My life was terrible. I was finally rounding the corner to the stairs- my initial plan was to keep my pace and just settle down until a better place comes.

When school was over I had to force myself to go to work. It only took a minute because it was so close to the college. It was where a lot of the students ate their lunch. Walking in and putting on my apron felt like putting handcuffs on myself. I walked behind the counter and Karli looked at me with relief. “Guess this means my shift is over. Good luck.” I didn’t say anything. I don’t think that deserved a response. I got behind the register, my most hated position. Being at the register meant I was the one who got yelled at when a sandwich was made wrong or didn’t “taste” right. An order came up behind me, one that Karli must have gotten and took it to the designated table that was written on the bill. I was looking down at my feet while I walked, making sure not to trip with the food in my hands. Usually I see a person coming towards me through my peripheral, but the customer whose table I was bringing the sandwiches to had started to get up and I hadn’t noticed. When the chair came into view I noticed that the guy who had been sitting there before was gone. He had stood up, most likely heading towards the bathroom, and I didn’t have time to stop before I ran right into him with the tray. My new rule, don’t look down at my feet anymore, it’s much less embarrassing  to trip then to run into somebody. Thankfully- which wasn’t exactly something I was very thankful for- the food went on me instead of him. I looked up to start apologizing immediately. “I am so— You again? Why does this always happen around you?” It was the Harry guy again. He smirked before he could help it. “I believe you was going to say you were sorry and again, you’re the one who don’t watch where they’re going.” The way he said it didn’t sound harsh like I would’ve expected. He only sounded amused. I bent down to start picking up the tray and the stuff on the floor so I wouldn’t have to look at him. “Okay, I’m sorry. It was my fault this time.” I stood back up when I had picked up everything that I could, and would get somebody with a mop to get the rest. “Fine, I’m sorry for sitting on the stairs this morning, it was a stupid idea.” He smiled at me and I started to hear the snickers behind him. That was when I saw the four other boys sitting there. That was when I realized why Harry Styles sounded so familiar. They were in a band, sort of. Not in the sense of one singer, anf four instrument players, but five singers. They weren’t quite famous yet, but they were around campus and this whole town. How could I be so stupid?
