~Devil's POV~

I had to disguise myself as we went out searching for the perfect ring for the love of my life. Oh, just thinking about her makes me feel all warm and happy inside. I hope that, despite Dice's words, she will accept my offer and make our love forever.

We looked around at the assortment of rings, figuring out which one she would like the best. But none of them seemed to be right to me. I tried to imagine them on her hand when I looked at them, but none of them seemed write at all. They all just seemed meaningless, despite the huge meaning they would have once I gave them to her.

I was getting frustrated with it all, and I guess Dice could sense my anger because he placed a hand on my shoulder, gaining my attention.

"You alright, boss?" He asked, a brow raised. "You look agitated by something."

"I just don't like any of these." I answered. "I just don't feel like any of them will work. Like, despite what they're meant for, they have no meaning at all."

"That doesn't make a lot of sense." he replied.

"Are you two finding anything to your liking?" An employee came up to us and spoke, giving off an obviously fake smile.

I sent a glare their way, making them take a step back once they sensed my dark aura.

"Not yet, but we'll let you know." Dice said, trying to make them leave us alone before I got to irritated.

"Alright." the employee replied, their voice sounding a bit nervous, and they walked off.

"So, what do you want to do, boss?" Dice asked, turning back to me. "If you hate all of these, what are you gonna get her instead?"

I stood there, pondering for a moment. What was I to do if I didn't like any of these? Should I wait a while longer and come back another time to see if they have ones I liked, or should I try something else instead? Something no one would suspect?

My eyes widened as an idea formed in my head, and I grabbed Dice's hand and dragged him out of the store with me.

"Woah, woah, boss!" Dice said, surprised by my sudden action. "What's the big idea?"

"The big idea is that since none of those rings in that shop seem meaningful to me..." I started. "Then I will make one myself! It will definitely have more meaning that those things."

Dice raised his eyebrows in surprise.
"How in hell would you be able to make a ring?" He asked. "You have no idea how to hand make one, and making one from magic would most likely corrupt her in some way."

"I don't know!" I hissed. "I'll just... have to figure it out somehow!"

I dragged Dice all the way back to the casino and into my office.

"You better not tell her about this at all." I growled. "Don't think I haven't noticed you two getting chummy when I'm not near her. If find out you told her-"

"You have my word boss, I won't say a word about it to anyone but you." Dice replied, holding his hands up in mock surrender. "And while you're working about it, I can keep her distracted. Does that sound okay?"

I averted my gaze, giving it some thought.
"What if she gets suspicious?" I asked.

"I can just tell her you're working on a personal project and wish to not be disturbed so you can focus." Dice replied.

I hummed in thought, then said, "I suppose that could work. But let me know if you think she suspects anything."

"Of course, boss." Dice said, nodding his head.

"I should get started on this right away." I said. "You go tend the floors and make watch over her while I'm in here. And don't forget to let me know if someone's getting lucky."

"You got it, boss." Dice replied, giving a curt bow and then exiting my office.

I sighed and rubbed my head thinking, "What the hell have I gotten myself into?"

~Your POV~

You stood at the bar, taking deep breaths, trying to keep your new feature hidden from view of the patrons. When you saw Dice and the Devil fly into the casino and into his office, you wondered what was up, but decided it was probably work things, and nothing you should worry about.

Dice walked over to you, looking around to see if anyone was looking.
"How are you doing?" He asked.

"Okay, I guess." you replied. "No pain or serious cravings, and I've thankfully been able to keep my mood swings in check around the patrons."

"That's good to hear." he replied. "Boss also is gonna be working on some personal project or something. He said it'll 'help boost patronage at the casino' or something like that. He's probably just trying to set up a radio advertisement or something."

You chuckled at that.
"Well, whatever keeps him actually working, I don't mind what he does." you said. "Because as long as he's working, the more time I have to figure out how to break the big news to him."

Dice nodded.
"Well, I better get back to work." he said. "I'll talk to you at closing, maybe."

You waved him off and got back to making drinks for the patrons.

~Devil Pov~

I sat in  my office scratching my head. Making the ring wouldn't be too much of a problem, since I knew how to mold and had access to intense heat for molding. I just didn't know what material to make the ring out of. Gold or silver seemed too plain. Perhaps some sort of gem? Diamonds were nice, but they didn't seem to suit her, or me. I rubbed my head, trying my best to think of some sort of gem that could be used to represent both of us.

When I opened my eyes, I found myself looking into the mirror gift that (y/n) had given me for my birthday. I chuckled at the memory of when I first looked at the present. Seeing my own face with "sweetest person ever" on the border. Not a present I ever expected to get, considering my reputation.

As I stared into the mirror, it suddenly hit me. I knew the perfect gem to use for our rings. The crimson ruby. It would symbolize both the pain we've gone through, and the love we both hold for each other. It was perfect, no other gem could possibly be more perfect.

I called for a few of my imps and ordered them to get me a large amount crimson rubies. They complied, and went out to search for the best rubies they could find. I went to a deeper part of hell, and began to mold the base of the ring to hold the rubies. I knew this would be a lot of trial and error. But I was willing to put myself through it.

For her. For us.

~Author's Note~

Uhh... hey guys.

I've sort of decided to come back and finish this.

After watching the Cuphead show on Netflix, I kinda got back into the fandom
I sort of missed writing this, so... here I am

Chapters will be much shorter than they used to be. Instead of 2000+ words per chapter, I'm probably just gonna do 1000+ words

So, yeah! I guess this is coming back
Updates will be slow, still. I'm still in school, and I have a job as well.

Maia out! ;P
