"Doyoung," Called out ten. I stopped packing my bag, looking back at him. He seemed to be surprised too as his eyes shifted from me to the baggage I was holding. Quirking his eyebrows he faced me.

"Aren't you staying for the night?" I shook my head.

"Mom called me. She needed me there, for some sort of meeting." I knew I didn't have to elaborate as he pressed his lips into a thin line.

"Oh..." was all he whispered as I mumbled a sorry before walking towards the door only to be stopped by him.

"What about Haechan?"

"What about him?" I asked confused.

"Why are you so curious about his case? Why are you constantly defending that kid?" Though confused at first I was quick to realize what ten was inquiring about. It was about my heated talk with Lucas hours before, defending and standing up for him.

"That's a topic for another day ten."

"Please-"

"No"

"Please"

"No"

"C'mon-"

"Fine. He reminds me of my brother." I burst out, unintentionally glaring in the process. My hand tightened around my bag's handle as he gasped. I shifted my eyes to the floor, taking a deep breath in so as to control my emotions.

"Are you perhaps talking about-"

"Kim Jungwoo. Yes. I'm talking about my brother. My late brother."

Yes, he reminded me of my own brother, Kim Jungwoo. Both of them were really different in their appearance. Jungwoo was even taller and had a broader shoulder compared to Haechan's. But both of them had something in common.

nightmares

Being grown in a not-so-friendly atmosphere Jungwoo depended on me a lot. Having parents who cared about nothing but money, our childhood was trash. He wasn't mentally stable and of course, my dad neglected him. He was ashamed of Jungwoo. He was ashamed to introduce my brother to his business partners.

As we grew and his business expanded he had less time for us, his sole focus being on business. When he was present at the house it most likely leads to fights between mom and him with us witnessing the whole drama. Jungwoo would hide his face in the nape of my neck while I tried to console him.

From a young age, I had made up my mind to protect my brother at all costs. I assisted him everywhere and tried to protect him from the bullies at school, picking on him for his difference. I had always made sure that I was there for him until that one night I was forced to attend a party by my mom.

It was a family party but my mom and dad were on the verge of getting a divorce. She didn't take Jungwoo with us. According to her, he was a 'burden' and she couldn't spend a night with her friends without having to check up on him from time to time. Mom, as expected, got wasted and when we got back we were met with the sight of my brother laying on the floor unconscious.

I, with the help of my mom's Secretary, took him to the hospital only to know that we were too late to save him. I felt like the world was ending. I looked over to my mom being sober and crying over, regretting her decision to not let him come along. But I knew her better. It was all fake. All for publicity. She wanted to be the perfect mom when in reality she wasn't even close to one.

About my dad, a whole different story. He wasn't present there at the time. Soon enough he was captured by the cops and we realized he was the one behind my brother's death. He barged into our house and being drunk as fuck he knocked Jungwoo out. Since the force on his head was too much it affected him. According to the doctors even if he made it alive, he wouldn't have been conscious for the rest of his life. They told us it was better to let him die.
