„Hello, you must be Miss Y/N, is that right?", a tall man asked me, his deep voice leaving a strong impression on me.

I could immediately see why he would be a successful businessman from his aura and attire alone.

„Yes,that's right. It's nice to meet you, Akabane-sama.", I responded in the sweetest voice possible, bowing politely to the man who doesn't care about his son beating up other people.

After the argument in the car, my mom told me his full name : Ichiro Akabane. Quite a noble sounding name, if I dare say so myself. The behavior the Akabanes seem to display, however, doesn't exactly convince me on that.

He waved his hand, chuckling slightly while dismissing my overly polite behavior.

„There's no need to be so formal. After all, we're going to be family soon, isn't that right,Miss Y/N?"

I forced a smile, effectively hiding my inner discomfort. It's not like I hated him or anything,I didn't know him well enough yet - But it's true that what I've heard of him didn't exactly paint him in the best light.

For now, I simply planned on not involving myself too much in my new family's affairs and avoiding any sort of conflict.

That was the last thing I needed right now, in a world that I knew for barely a year.

I nodded and followed him into the house, my mother trailing behind me.

As I glanced at her, I caught her smiling at me as if to express her thanks, which I returned with a small smile as well.

If my mom's happy, it couldn't be that bad.

Mr. Akabane led us into the House, which was so luxurious and spacious that I couldn't help but stare at every nook and cranny in awe. I guess him being rich didn't come from nowhere.

Just like with other people, as soon as I learned his full name, I was able to see what was referred to by the system as the „affection level" of that person.

It seemed that affection would go up from many different things and could fall just as easily, depending on how one behaved towards someone.

Currently, Mr. Akabane was at 4%. While that may seem very low, it was to be expected, considering the two of us just met.

From what I've read in the Help section provided by the ominous system, affection levels could even go into the negatives, which would imply a strong dislike or hatred towards the user.

Meanwhile, percentages between 0 and 10% -like it was the case for Mr. Akabane- expressed Indifference or simply not knowing each other well enough to judge.

Considering that,the score made sense.

Said man stopped once our small group reached what seemed to be the living room. It was connected to the kitchen through a sliding door made of clear glass and dark teakwood. It seemed that this house's design was mostly based on the ebony of the teakwood, the cream colored walls, translucent glass and a burnt orange color apparent in most of the furniture.

I had to admit, the overall concept of this house was very tasteful. In that sense, it didn't bother me too much that this is the place I would be staying at for the next few years. It was close to the school I would soon be attending, too.

I set my pastel colored bag down on the floor, looking up again to see what Mr. Akabane had been doing while I was admiring his home.

It seems he had been conversing with a maid about something, and from the looks of it, what she told him wasn't what he wanted to hear.
