I gently slid the door open to my classroom, which was located on the second floor right next to the stairs. I found it interesting how the higher classes were closer to the entrance and therefore had a shorter way in and out of the school building, while lower classes were located further away. In any other situation, I would've passed it off as a mere coincidence, but given what I knew about the hierarchy at Kunugigaoka, I doubted that it wasn't done on purpose. Higher classes, especially the one I was in, were always given preferential treatment even down to test preparation, which would especially show itself during midterms in a few weeks.
I wondered if these kinds of things were even legal, seeing as the state the E-class was in was everything but acceptable.
Surely it wasn't, right? Then again, there wasn't really anything that I, a mere student with no ties to this school's principal, could even do about that. Even if I were to know him personally, I doubted that he would change anything about his ideology just because I didn't like it.
I sighed at my depressing thoughts, carelessly sliding into the first seat that came into my view. It was a front row seat next to the window that bode a perfect view of the campus.
As I unpacked my things, I noticed the boy next to me looking at me with a stiff expression from the corner of my eyes. I turned my face a little more to inspect his face, only to fall victim to another big shock.
In front of my eyes was none other than Gakushu Asano, the son of this school's heinous principal and the top student of our year. Additionally, he was also very popular amongst girls for being extremely good-looking and having a good personality.
...Well, that's what he portrays himself to be! It's not like he was actually a good person, he only put up a facade around his classmates to make it seem that way. I didn't exactly like that part about him, but I could understand why he was doing it. To be successful, you had to make use of all your assets in the best way possible - and if that meant putting on a facade to get people to like you, then so be it.
In a way, he was the complete opposite of my new brother, who openly showed that he didn't give a shit about most people. While that also meant that he wouldn't hesitate to use violence to get what he wanted, at least he didn't pretend to be someone he wasn't. I wasn't sure which of the two I preferred, but I had to admit that Karma did have a genuinely kind side to him, which I really liked.
I was snapped out of my thoughts by a hand flying towards me at extreme speed, a loud bang resonating through the room when it made contact with the wooden surface of my desk.
I flinched slightly at the sudden noise, somewhat shocked by that person's aggressive behavior. I genuinely thought someone was going to hit me right then and there, but I was glad that wasn't the case.
I turned away from the boy next to me and instead looked at who was standing in front of my desk. My gaze met with those of three other girls who had smiles plastered all over their faces but obviously didn't seem to be too happy with me being there.
"Hello. I take it you're the new student in our class?", the girl that slammed her manicured hand onto my desk just a moment ago asked me.
She looked just like a typical gyaru would, except that her hair was still a natural shade of brown and she didn't wear too much makeup. I was guessing that violating the school's dress code too much would put her at risk of being sent to E-class, thus limiting the amount of customization she could do to her looks. Nonetheless, her skirt was shortened by a fair amount, her blazer tied around her waist and her wrists decorated by a series of scrunchies.
"Yes, my name is L/N Y/N. Do you need anything from me?", I asked as politely as I could, slightly bowing my head upon introducing myself. She looked at me with an unimpressed face for a moment before removing her hand from my desk.
