Ashton's pov

The sounds of an hairdryer and Michael's humming had been going on for a while now. You see,Michael came across a box of hair dye and really wanted me to try out black hair, he seemed really excited so I agreed. The sound of the hairdyer came to a halt and put back down on the table "all done babe! you look great, wait till the girls see it!" "you sure it looks okay? I don't look like a fool?" I asked, worried I was going to look like an absolute gimp "of course not! I mean you can't be any more emo than we were six years ago. Black hair suits you" "Pft that's true" I said and got up, walking over to the mirror to have a look.

"Wow I really like it! you did a great job" I said with a smile and walked back over to him, pecking him on the lips. "How cute are youuu! wow, to think they still sell hair dye after all this shit" Michael said and chuckled "I know right? impossible to find painkillers these days but at least we have good old hair dye aye?" I said with a sarcastic tone. "Well, it's a good job we've learnt to keep on our feet since everything happened. Not a single zombie in sight for at least three years!" "let's hope it stays that way. You don't think they'll ever come back do you?" I asked casually but my  slightly now mellowed anxiety still fretting at the back of my head. "Hmmmm.. well there has been no signals, we seem to be getting better and better every day. I mean we managed to get this place fixed up by ourselves right? our business has been going on for a while now" he said and let out a smile, I gave a smile back. "Yeah you are right. I guess it's just something that's always going to be in the back of our heads you know? I mean how can we forget about that bloody Alma?" Michael's eyes seemed to go a bit disturbed from the mention of her name, I don't blame him, she was insane.

Michael didn't speak for a few seconds before replying, looking like he was choosing his words carefully "yeah..we can't forget it ever I don't think. It's so nice we are moving forward. Alma? oH fucking hell. I wonder if she's even alive?" He said, looking like he was going to mention something or someone else but decided against it. "Yeah it is nice we're moving forward..but nah I doubt she's alive. I hope not at least. She was.. special..we've met a lot of fucked up people" I replied, couldn't help but think of the same person Michael was probably thinking about, Xander.

"We really did huh..but at least we have met Bry and Crystal and we have our little girl! apart from you, she's the best thing that has ever happened to me" "yeah that's true. We are very, very lucky" I said and took his hand, planting a kiss on his soft skin. He gave a loving smile and changed the subject to more of a light hearted one "so how do you think the business is going?" He asked while making us some coffee. He was referring to the café, Bryana is the front of house manager and she and Michael convinced me to take the kitchen manager role. "Yeah I think it's going well, me and Bryana have a few more finishing touches to do but apart from that it's looking good" "you glad you took the manager role in the end? I think the four of us are handling it fine, I don't think we need to hire anyone else" he said and handed me the hot cup of coffee. I gave him a thankful smile for the drink "yeah it's good, little stressful but what isn't stressful for me right?" I joked "hah, at least you haven't suffered from panic attacks for a few months now. When Tangerine reaches the age of 12 she can try coffee, she'll love your coffee" Michael said and gave a smile.

I sat down on our sofa "I hope so, she'll be a little barista before we know it" I said fondly by the thought of her and patted the empty seat beside me, wanting Michael's presence to be close as possible. He sat down beside me "I can't believe she'll be four by the end of this year. She's already talking a little" he said and had a sip of his coffee. I put my legs on his lap before replying "I know, feels like yesterday when she was only a few months old" he started to stroke my legs "gah stop! I'm starting to feel old. I'm freaking 23, what the hell!"  I gave out a giggle "23 isn't that old, besides you are still extremely handsome so don't worry about it" I said and gave him another peck on the lips. "Not as handsome as you, with your cute new hair!" he said and started playing with it "fluffy!" he added cutely, "thanks to you, hair stylist Michael at my service" "I can be at other services too if you want?" He  said with a smirk and stroked up my leg. I blushed "Michael! you are a cheeky one aren't you?" "how so? I was gonna offer to make you another coffee actually. My barista services!" Couldn't help but think oH "really? whoops!" "but it you want to see making coffee as cheeky then crack on" he said with a giggle. "I mean sure, why not?" "ooh cheeky!!" he said and got up again to make us another cup of coffee, "don't get the caffeine shakes" I commented, worried he'd drink too much of it, caffine gets him way too buzzed sometimes.

"I'm sure we won't. We are probably best saving these rations for the café though. This is all stored dried coffee, fresh coffee hasn't been grounded in years!!" I gave him a face like 😶 "professor caffine knows his shit" "hey I'm doing this to help Bryana. She's the manager and still doesn't know the life shelf of the coffee!" "she'll get there, don't worry" I reassured him "how do you feel about being the kitchen manager? you learnt the recipes for those sugar free pumpkin muffins yet??" "yeah, Tangie tried one the other day, she loved it" "awh glad to hear! anyways, we have a few more days off before business so I bought some games for the Xbox I got, wanna see it?"  "yeah sure" I said, I'm not sure how Michael got his hands on a new Xbox and was able to get it up and running but I didn't bother to question it, it makes him happy.  "I bought this!!" he said excited and held up a bloody zombie game, out of all the things, really?? I didn't reply, I just gave him the classic 😶 face.

"Cool right? brings back good memories!" "good memories?? Michael you having me on??"  "yeah?  I used to play this all the time after college!" "oh sorry, I didn't realise you meant that far back, I thought you meant..well..you know" "well no, I didn't" he replied, now giving a 😶 face himself "sorry" I said, starting to feel really awkward. "It's okay! hey I was wondering did you want to take Tangerine to the park today?" "yeah sure" I replied, more bluntly than I intended to do so "we can go to the duck pond! just don't have a panic attack this time. I'll make sure the birds don't attack you. We will leave the loaf of bread at home"  "hey it's not my fault! they were coming at me with their fat beaks and quacking all crazy!"  "quack quack!" Michael said while flapping his arms and trying to tickle me "Michaelllllll, don't do that" I whined and rolled on the floor, my lame attempt of getting away.

Being on the floor didn't make any difference, he began tickling me "c'mere! you cutie!" he said while continuing to tickle me, I couldn't stop laughing "nooo! stop!" he lifted up my shirt and blew a giant raspberry, I pulled Michael beside me while still giggling "you are such a goofball, but I love it"  "you're a goofball" he said as he cupped my cheeks, planting a kiss on my lips. "Ready to go?" he added ,I gave a smile "yeah, let's go"

We both got up, getting our jackets on. Michael brought out his phone, texting one of the girls I assume. It's a good thing after all these years we still kept our phones, not sure why but since we have the electricity to charge them now they are usable again.

I couldn't help but feel grateful for my life right now, everything was just perfect these days, of course there was stuff that still worried me but I tried not to bring that up anymore, right now it's time to live in the moment, with our adorable family.
