Lily Evans was not one to dress to impress, and today was no exception. Patiently waiting for James Potter to come down from the bathroom, she plopped onto the sofa and stared out the window in their common room. After seven years, Lily had finally agreed to go on a date with James Potter. The only thing Lily was worried about was what the girls would think. I guess I'll find out soon enough, she thought.
After another five minutes, Lily getting restless, moved up the stairs to figure out the hold up.
Knocking on the door gently, it creaked open slightly to reveal a shirtless James. A gasp escaped through Lily's parted lips, and James turned towards her, only a towel around his torso. A grin played on his lips, his amber eyes glinting mischievously. Lily covered her mouth, a light shade of red, washing over her cheeks.
She stumbled out of the bathroom, mumbling an apology before rushing down the stairs. She, once again, flopped onto the couch, trying to push the memory of what just happened out of her mind. But she couldn't seem to erase the image of his hard, strong abs from playing Quidditch. And the picture of only a loosely, hanging towel covering his lower body, with his signature smirk and glinting eyes was kind of hard to dispose of.
Sighing, she pulled out a piece of parchment and a quill. Absently, she began to write a letter to her sister, Petunia.
Dear Petunia,
I am writing to you to discuss something only a girl would understand. Of course I have friends here, but I thought you would be of more help. You see, I have this....ah, friend, I guess, and after seven years, I have finally decided to go on a date with him. But I don't know how serious this is or will be. I want your help. Should I give him a chance? I beg of you to answer me. I miss us being close. And after losing Severus, I don't want to lose you too. Please. I love and miss you.
With love,
Lily.Dropping the quill onto the table, Lily sealed the letter and opened the window to her dorm. And as if he knew, Lily's owl flew in through the opening.
Attaching the letter to her owl's leg, she whispered the location. "Petunia Evans. Here you go, have a safe trip." She handed him a treat and patted his head affectionately, before he took off.
Lily gripped the edge of the windowsill. Faintly, she felt a hand land on her shoulder, she jumped in surprise.
"Ready to go?" James asked.
Lily sighed, it wasn't a murderer touching her shoulder.
She swiveled around and met his eyes, they were very close to her face. For a moment, she forgot to breath.
Finally regaining her composure, she straightened. She had to keep her feelings in check. If she was going to give him a chance, she had to make sure he was actually a new person, not the same old conceited, jerk. She stuck her nose in the air.
"Yes. Let's go." She moved away from him, towards the portrait door.
He caught at her hand, and spun her back around to face him. "Is everything alright?"
She smiled at him. "Yes."
"Okay. Let's go."
He did not let go of her hand.

"Ahh! James Potter! Stop it! Put me down!" Lily yelled as James threw her over his shoulder and walked into The Three Broomsticks.
She repeatedly smacked his back, but he didn't seem to care. Or care about the strange looks they were receiving, he simply just laughed.
After he had come back from the Hospital Wing, from Severus's curse, he seemed to be even more connected to Lily. If that's possible.
