Ten DeathEaters charged at Lily and James. They both yelled in unison. "Stupefy!"

They stood back to back, as if they had been dueling together for ages. Red and green lights shot from the tips of the students and DeathEaters alike.

Sadly, it wasn't enough. Students were falling. Way too many of them. The DeathEaters were outnumbered, but they used dark and powerful magic. The students of Hogwarts were about to be overwhelmed. But, Lily noticed in admiration, that all the students were fighting bravely. All were standing back to back with another, ducking and dodging spells and casting some of their own.

Lily recognized Bellatrix Lestrange in the DeathEater's ranks. She cackled and moved towards Sirius. His eyes widened in surprise, as he dodged a spell that looked mysteriously like the Killing Curse. Marlene was fighting back to back with him and ducked also, as the curse narrowly missed her, hitting one of the DeathEaters.

"Lily! Duck!" James yelled, as a curse flew over her head, singeing her hair.

She yelled out the leg-locker curse in response. "Locomotor Mortis!"

The DeathEater fell on his face, when his legs snapped together. Lily smirked, but her victory was short lived, as a curse hit her from behind, knocking her off her feet. She screamed in agony. Everyone stopped and stared. Tears flowed down her face, as her whole body constricted in pain. Finally, the curse was lifted and she fell in a heap. Her body went numb and she sobbed.

Someone yelled in rage behind her. "Sectumsempra!"

Lily recognized the spell but not the caster. It was not Severus, she thought. It was James.

He ran to Lily's side, picking her up gently. He cast the shield charm. "Protego!"

She still sobbed in misery and agony of the remains of the Unforgivable Curse. She had never endured such pain. She was not weak or delicate. She sniffles on last time, before looking up at James.

She peered around her. Marlene was laying in a puddle of blood, Sirius was shouting in fury and rage, cursing anyone who came near the helpless girl.

Alice and Frank were still fighting defiantly. Casting spells and curses every which way in a flurry of reds and greens.

Remus was in a standoff with Peter behind him, cowering in fright, only managing to hold up a weak shield.

Her friends were all okay, except for Marlene, but Sirius was there making sure she would not get hurt. She fluttered her eyes up to James' again and faintly heard him muttering healing spells. "Episky."

She slowly was regaining feeling in her limbs, and with help, stood shakily to her feet. Her wand was placed in her hand by James and she smiled at him weakly. His glasses were askew and his robes were tattered, but he was still handsome. Lily forced herself to focus.

She noticed the DeathEaters seemed to be retreating. But why?

Suddenly, a man on a broomstick landed gracefully in the middle of the fight. The rider calmly dismounted and shot sparks in the air. With a gasp, the DeathEaters one by one disappeared with a pop!

Professor Dumbledore looked around, as if he was just realizing a fight was going on. "Oh dear. I think it would be wise to get the students back to the castle, yes? Mr. Potter, Ms. Evans, would you-" he looked at the shaking figure of Lily, "Oh my! Mr. Potter, take Ms. Evans back to the castle and to the Hospital Wing, would you?"

James nodded mutely and swung Lily into his arms. Lily did not have the strength to argue. She drifted off to sleep in his arms.

"Okay, Ms. Evans, you are clear to go. Would you please take these though?" The nurse asked kindly, shoving two red tablets under Lily's nose.

Lily knew better than to argue and swallowed the pills in one gulp. She swung her legs off of the bed and she raced towards her Common Room, with a newfound energy coursing through her.

She reached the portrait that lead to her and James' common room and recited the password. The portrait swung open and she climbed inside. She heard whispers though and stopped, listening curiously.

"-all right? I couldn't bare-" James voice rung clear through the air.

"She'll be fine! And I suppose you haven't gotten-"

"Shut up! You prat!" James yelled, embarrassed.

Who was he talking to? Lily wondered.

At that moment, Lily fell over and clattered into a suit of armor in their common room.

The voices quickly ceased and James came rushing to her aid.

"What in Merlin's beard were you doing?" James laughed, pulling her to her feet. She brushed her robes off and scowled.

"I heard voices-"

"That was me!" James said.

"But there were two." Lily countered skeptically.

"I was-um...talking to myself..." he lied, not so smoothly, but Lily didn't push.

"Are you okay?" She asked, as James' face had turned a light shade of crimson.

"Yeah. I'm-I'm fine." He stuttered, turning more red in the face.

He heart did a summersault when he smiled at her. True and genuine. Not a troublemaker smirk. A real smile.

Her thoughts wondered to her dream and the Mirror of Pax. You have to tell him, the girls had said. The right time would come. And what other time was better than this. Lily was terrified he would just laugh hysterically, or he would run away screaming, thinking she was mad. But, she took a leap of faith.

"James....I have to talk to you about something." She said as calmly as she could, leading him to the love seat.

"Okay." He said nervously, coming along.

"I-I had this dream....I mean vision or premonition....or-I don't know! But...you remember that one time I was screaming in my sleep?" He nodded silently, "Okay. Well.... I was having some sort of dream. It was about....you. And me. And...." she fidgeted nervously, here it comes...."our child." Her eyes were glued to her lap, but James made no sound. So she continued, "I was holding the baby-Harry-and you were telling me to take him and run. Someone was coming-and you...you said you would hold them off and-" her voice broke, remembering her own sorrow, "and....yo-you died. I-I tried to protect the baby-but-but whoever that p-person was...killed me too. I-I think it's true...and I'm-I'm scared-" she broke down completely. Sobbing and crying into her hands.

After a moment, a warm pair of arms engulfed her. She cried still, but was becoming calmer.

"Hey, hey. Shush. It's okay. I'm here. Your here. We're fine. Look at me." James said, soothing her. He pulled her chin up to meet his eyes. His eyes were swimming with tears. She cried more.

He hugged her close.

Reliving her nightmare was terrible, but at least now, Lily had James to comfort her.
