Chapter 2: Sneaking Out

That night, Alexis couldn't sleep thinking about the 2 blonde kids in the cages. She got out of bed and tiptoed out the door. She ran towards the circus and to where she found the kids.

Magical Mirai 2019: Hello?

She heard a little noise, and saw the blonde-haired girl walk up to her.

Magical Mirai 2019: It's me again. I'm sorry. I didn't bring any food this time. Hi, I'm Alexis. What's your name?

The girl was scared to even speak.

Magical Mirai 2019: It's okay...just tell me your name.

The girl struggled to find her voice.

Mirai Lioness: Linda.

Magical Mirai 2019: Linda? That's a pretty name.

Linda pointed at the cage next to hers.

Mirai Lioness: My brother Lionel is in there.

Magical Mirai 2019: Where is he?

Mirai Lioness: Probably sleeping.

Alexis knocked on one of the bars of the cage. Lionel heard and walked up.

Mirai Lion: You're that girl from before.

Magical Mirai 2019: Yes. I'm Alexis.

She held up her hand for him to shake. He sniffed it.

Magical Mirai 2019: You shake it. With your own hand.

Lionel stuck his own hand out and shook the 8-year-old's hand.

Magical Mirai 2019: So, tell me about yourselves. Are you circus performers?

Mirai Lioness: No, but our parents were.

Magical Mirai 2019: Your parents? Where are they?

Mirai Lion: They were...killed. By a bunch of tigers.

Mirai Lioness: That evil ringmaster made thousands of people watch them get killed!

Magical Mirai 2019: I'm so sorry...

Mirai Lion: The ringmaster treats us badly all the time.

Mirai Lioness: He locks us up in these cages.

Mirai Lion: He makes us starve to death in here.

Magical Mirai 2019: You poor things. I got an idea! How about I help you out of here?

Mirai Lioness: That's really thoughtful, Alexis, but we could get caught.

Magical Mirai 2019: No, you're not. It'll be fine.

She found something that seemed sharp enough that she can use as a lock pick. She tried to get Linda out, but a hand touched her shoulder. Alexis looked behind and saw the ringmaster.

Ringmaster: I warned you, little girl.

He picked up the 8-year-old girl and carried her somewhere. She called for help multiple times. It was then she heard some growling. She looked over at where the ringmaster was taking her to. There were a couple of lions in a cage. And they looked hungry. The ringmaster opened the cage door up and threw the little girl in there.
