Chapter 7, Field Trip - Part 1

It was time to go to the carnival. You were anxious, of course.

There were many factors for today to be a good one, and many chances it could go wrong. One being that Dio could die if he touched sunlight, nothing a little covering up couldn't fix. You were worried about what to do about this trip, considering you had to babysit 7 grown men with differing levels of chaotic energy.

You decided to keep everyone in pairs. You didn't want to be too controlling of everyone so you gathered everyone to discuss the pairing.

"So, who does anyone want to pair up with?" You asked

Everyone stared at each other for a moment before Kars spoke up. "I'll be with (Y/N)." He stated bluntly, crossing his arms.

"Oi, who said you could just take the human like that?" Dio spat back, glaring at the ultimate lifeform.

"Yeah, who said you could?" Added in Diego.

"Well, (Y/N) of course. They were the ones who said that we could pair up."

"Not with just anyone!" Diego rebutted.

"Well, they didn't clarify who we couldn't, so yeah, he could take (Y/N)." Doppio said, trying his best to calm everyone.

"Well then, I'll be the one to take the human." Dio asserted, having a stare-off with Kars.

"Do you think they would go with a lowly being like you?" Kars questioned.

"Lowly being?" Dio snapped back, a snarl lining his face. That's when the fight started. Dio started shouting at Kars, which led to the pillarman yelling back. It turned into chaos, and you had to stop it.

"Oi Oi Oi Oi, Calm down. Oi Oi Oi Oi OI OI OI!" You cried out, mimicking Rohan. Everyone fell silent. You huffed out a breath before crossing your arms. "I'll go with Kars since he was the first to offer."

It seemed everyone was upset, but eventually, they all organized into pairs they were somewhat comfortable with.

Doppio had been feeling strange ever since he arrived at your mansion. Sure, he died, but that was beside the point. Every time you chatted, whether it was simply at dinner or when you talked to him in his room, he couldn't help but feel a little flustered.

This made him quite nervous. How were you doing this? It seemed this wasn't a side effect of your stand, he already had a general idea of it. It's just-

"Doppio?"

He turned his head to the sound of his name being called. You gave him a small smile.

"Did you hear what I said?"

"No, sorry, not really.." He said, scratching his cheek. You let out a sigh before continuing to speak.

"Don't leave the area. Every event is free except for food and drinks, so if you want any come find me and Kars. We're going to be leaving at 8:00 so make sure to meet back here by then, ok?"

He nodded his head looking at his partner, Diego. He was crouched on the ground, wait, was he chewing on a rock? He looked back at you, who didn't seem to bat an eye at the scene.

"Ok. Kars and I are going to head to the Carousel first. If you need anything, we'll most likely be around there."

"I don't understand why you'd want us to ride on those fake horses. I could make zombie ones and let us ride those." Kars claimed, looking down at you. He stood above everyone else and easily grew attention. You started to get a little embarrassed, for many reasons.

"Well, Kars. This isn't a competition. We're here for enjoyment, so let's have fun." You replied, hoping your embarrassment didn't show.

"I don't think I'd be able to fit on those small horses anyway. They don't even look real." You looked over at him for a few seconds, debating if he was just joking.

"That's because they aren't. They have a literal pole going through their torso, you think they'd be alive?"

"I simply thought that was attached to the saddle." He replied, blank-faced. "When will we be able to go on them, anyway?"

"When the spinning stops. Then the other people will get off and we can get on." You explained to him.

"Can't we just force them off the horses? It'd be much more efficient." He asked

This might be a longer night than you expected.

This Diego kid was getting on Doppio's nerves. He was eating a rock earlier, now he's turning rats into strange dinosaurs. To be honest, Doppio wanted to go through the house of mirrors, but Diego was crouched to the floor, turning rats into different small dinos.

He didn't have a problem with the Dinos, they were rather cute. It's just Diego was wasting time here instead of doing anything productive. What's worse was Diego was wandering into an alleyway, trying to keep up with the small dinos.

"Oi, Dino boy. Turn those rats back and let's get going." Doppio let out, glaring at the man.

"Why can't I enjoy myself with these guys, hm? You can go off and have fun, I don't really like those crowds." He answered back, not even looking at Doppio.

"Well, I'm heading to a place that won't have many people in it. Not only that, this alley is creepy." Doppio explained, swallowing some saliva. He knew someone else was in the alley, he was sure of it.

"Relax, even if it's creepy we could beat up any dude stupid enough to fight us." Diego said, picking up one of the dinos. He turned it back into a rat quickly, setting back down. The other dinosaurs turned back as well. He let out a sigh, standing and turning towards the shorter man. "Alright, let's go to that fun place you wanted to go to." He stated dryly.

Doppio watched as he walked past towards the entrance to the alley, not before turning back to look inside. There he saw a figure. Their head was down, fixated on the ground. He looked back at Diego before pausing.

Looking back at the man again, he saw the man now on the floor, bleeding out.

He turned back towards Diego, walking out slowly, wiping the blood off his hands.

Diavolo got what he wanted from the man.

Now it was time to act normal.
