Chapter 5 -Roommate
I walk out of the crowded airport and walk to the car rental shop. People look at me like I'm insane; you would think they never saw a girl on crutches holding a teddy bear before. As I reach the desk I see a fat man in square glasses, but I have to hand it to him he has the most beautiful green eyes I have EVER saw.
"Excuse me sir?" I say nicely.
"Yes ma'am, how can I help you?" His voice is a rough and scratchy, and he speaks with a lot of country twang.
"I was told that I was supposed to be renting a car here."
"Name please?" He says as he turns to face his computer.
"Jessie Williams." I see him type my name in, then he puts his hand out for me to hand him my id.
"And the Name of the person who made this reservation?" I hate security questions they drive me insane.
"Amanda Galloway." He hands me my ID back with a key with the number 92 on it.
"Go down the lot till you find a car with the number 92 on paper in the side right window."
I leave the shop and go down the aisles until I see a red Jetta, with the number 92 in the window. Thank god it’s not a ugly piece of shit. I put my stuff in the back seat and buckle up Mr. Fluff in the passenger seat beside me. I type in the address to the school in the GPS, and start my 3 hour drive through Cali. As I drive I take in all the unfamiliar sights. As I drive past a burger place I can’t help but stop, those damn plane peanuts don't do shit but make your taste buds shrivel up. I walk into the yellow brick building. It smells of grease and for some reason old people. I walk further and see a retirement home bus, guess they got hungry too. I stand in what seems like an endless line, and wait.
"Awe look at David working so hard." I hear a deep voice from the front of the line, he sounds like he's mocking the boy that's working behind the counter.
"Guys order something or get out." I hear him say, his voice is deep also, his eyes are a dark blue, and he has honey blonde hair in a skater cut, his pale skin brings out his perfect lips; He looks so kissable.
"How about, no." I look at the guy making fun of the boy, no wonder he's making fun of him, he's jealous as fuck. The boy had on a high school jacket and some baggy jeans. His hair was a shaggy brown and his face was all weird to me, His uni-brow brought my attention to his eyes, they are a black with a hint of brown in the pupil. First word that comes to my mind... Insecurity.
I start walking towards the front getting some ugly looks from people who think I'm trying to pass them. I tap the jock on his shoulder, who is a tad bit taller then he looked back there. "Well hey beautiful, can I help you with something." He says with a boyish grin, and then he looks at my boobs... typical.
"Yeah, I would like you to leave this boy alone, stop acting like such a prick, and let him work so we can all get our food." My words come out sharp, and that's exactly how I wanted them to. The boy behind the counter looks at me with disbelief, and the jock just stares at me like he's never heard anyone talk down to him before.
"Listen I don't know who you think you are, but you can’t talk to me like that--" I cut him off.
"I'm hungry that's what I am, My leg may be broken but I could kick your ass, so go away, let the boy work, cause NO ONE is getting between me and my god damn burger today!"
The jock steps back and I see him leave the shop, I go to go to the back of the line when the person I cut in front of talk to me. "No no you can go first." I give him a nod and step up to the counter.
