Chapter 9- White Shizz

My crutches click against the hard pavement. I'm only five minutes away from the burger place now; if I only had my rental car this would be so much easier. I can't believe the Bus would make a girl with a broken foot walk. When I walk past a dark alley I hear someone sprinting towards me, before I can turn around I feel cold arms around me and a hand on my mouth. I kick and scream but the person who is holding me seems a lot stronger. I kick and try to scream but his hand muffles my cries for help. I feel tears go down my cheek as a sharp pain goes through my neck and I feel someone's warm lips on rested on my neck. The person kneels down and as he pulls away I look up and see a boy with sharp features, and pale skin. His hair looks smooth like black silk, and his eyes... oh how could I even describe them... they are ruby red, if you look past the hunger and anger in them, you can see sadness and grief . He would be perfect if his lips weren't covered in my blood, as my vision fades I wonder if this beautiful boy killed me...?  And the last words I hear before my life ends is "Please Apollo... i don’t want her to die..."

Waking up to an odd beeping in my ear and a pain through ought my body. Where the fuck am I..? Slowly opening my eyes seeing white... only white then more colors come into my view and my eyes are fully open.  There is an ugly old Dinosaur hanging on my wall that they are trying to pass off as a TV. My hands run across the gross scratchy stitching of my blanket. I look down at the foot of my bed and see Steph with her head down. It feels nice to see something familiar.

"Steph." I try to make myself yell her name but my voice only comes out as a soft whisper. What the hell is wrong with my throat? It feels dry, like someone shoved sand down it and didn't let me drink water for years. Damn Steph please wake up! When I try to lift my leg it feels weak, I don't even remember what the hell happened to me. I can feel her hair on my foot as I start to poke her with my foot.

"Steph... please wake up!" My voice is getting stronger but it is still only a whisper.  

"Oh my goodness you're up!" I look to see a soft faced woman only in her 20's. She has long red hair that reaches down to her waist and she has beautiful green eyes. I just nod and look down at Steph.

"Oh dear. Young lady your friend is awake." She places her hands on Steph's shoulders and shakes her a little and I hear her grunt.

"She's awake?"

"Yes dear."  I look onto Steph's eyes and I can feel a smile spreading across my face.

"Damn I thought you were going to die woman!" She yells pulling me into a hug. All I can do is let out a little laugh and smile at her. My body and mind feels like shit.

"When can I bring her back to school?"

"Today if you could, we need more space for some other people in critical care."

"Yes I'd love to bring her home today."

"Ok, I will go get her papers and I'll be back soon with her stuff also."  The woman leaves the room and it's just me and Steph.

"The boy who brought you here to the hospital didn't want to stay so he got my number from your phone and told me to come here. You've only been here for two days, and I have a surprise for you when we get back to school."  Just then the nurse walks back in and hands Steph the papers and a pen. She sets my cloths and crutches on the end of the bed.

"Just sign at the bottom both of you and your free to go Ms. Jessie." We take the pens and sign our names at the bottom of the sheet.

The ride home was... boring... i slept most of the time till Steph woke me up when we got closer to home. I watch through the bus windows the buildings and the signs fly by. Then the burger place comes into view and I hit Steph in the arm pointing to the Restaurant. I hope she knows what I'm trying to say, considering I still can't talk worth a shit.

"Driver can you stop at the burger place!" Steph yells to the front of the bus.

"Yes ma'am." The bus driver pulls to the side of the road right by the burger place. I wish the bus driver from the other night was this nice. Taking my crutches into my hands and I start limping off the bus.

"Jessie you should really use those crutches." I just shake my head and hand her my crutches.

Walking into the Burger place and heading straight towards the employees break room, David has to be here. Opening the employee's only door and walking in to see David and a small group of guys. His eyes widen and he gets up taking me into a deep hug. I feel like crying then the anger hits me and my voice swells up coming out. I swear it was almost loud enough to shake the whole room.

"David! Why weren't you there when I woke up! You dump me I that shit hole they try to pass off as a hospital! I feel like an old granny getting left at Hospice! Why couldn't you just wait there with me! I had to wake up to Steph! Ugh!" I push away from his hug and look at him and his surprised friends.

"I'm sorry Jessie; I didn't think you would be mad."

"I'm not shit -head, Just trying to give you a hard time." Punching his shoulder lightly and playfully I give him another hug. Steph's giggles come from behind me and I turn and look at her stepping away from David.

"Ok Steph Lets go back to school."

"Oh gods no, let's not go yet, they have the school on lock down because they caught that girl micelle and umm that one hot guy on the schools swim team in the broom closet doing the bad."

"The bad Steph? Couldn't you just say banging? Or like sex?"

"Jessie we go to a Christian academy! I will not say such things!" She says crossing her arms across her chest. I turn to David and stare him down.

"See what you left me to wake up to?" David and his friends all chuckle.

"Sorry about that Jessie."

"Its fine David, She loves me!" Steph covers my mouth so I can't object. I'm to tired to argue... maybe I do love her... but she’s so annoying. She uncovers my mouth and I turn around and slap her arm.

"You're lucky I'm to tired to hurt you Steph!"

"You already did. Not only will my arm bruise but you left an emotional pain that hurts to much to show." She says rubbing her arms making a fake pouting face.

"Ha-ha very funny." I turn back to David and his friends and I hug him one more time.

"I'll be back around to visit you sometime ok?

"Sounds good to me. When you start feeling better just call me and we can go to the movies like we were going to the other night." He smiles at me and I can feel myself blushing again. Why does he always do this to me?

"Sounds good." I look close at his lips and his soft smile. I swear if all these people weren't here I would kiss him. I look at his eyes giving me the confused look. I guess I've been staring to long. Shit...

"David did you know that you have some white shizz on your lip?" I say hoping he will take me lie.

"Why didn't you tell me before Jessie?" He yells wiping his lip off.

"Didn't think you needed to know." I smile and turn around leaving the burger place.

"Jess there wasn't anything on his lips."

"Shush he doesn't need to know that." She walks beside me to the bus stop and we wait. These benches are so hard I ran my hand to the back of my neck and to the side where I stop as my fingers glide over to evenly spaced holes in my neck. My heart starts to race and so does my mind. And I can't help but wonder... What the hell happened the other night...?
