You looked at Jennie who was waiting hopefully for your response.

"I'd love to J, let's go right now."

It's only fair, you reasoned. Jennie made the effort to be here and ask in person, plus it's convenient. Also Jennie's... cool. Yeah, she's cool. That's it. Cool. Nothing weird about that. Right??

"Who were all those texts from oppa?" Jennie asked innocently.

"Doesn't matter. Anyway this bubble t-"

"Do you have a girlfriend??" Jennie interrupted, her eyes wide.

"No, that's not why" you muttered. Jennie was still staring at you intently and you realized you'd better just explain. "It was just Somi..."

"Ooohhh yeah Somi sure seems to like you" Jennie said raising her eyebrows.

You bit your tongue. It was obvious what she wanted. She was waiting to hear what you thought about Somi. Well, I'm not making this that easy Little Miss Kim. "Yeah, it's nice I've gotten along great with everyone at THEBLACKLABEL."

Your eyes locked with Jennie's and you both smirked a little. You both knew exactly what the other one was doing.

"So it was just Somi?" Jennie asked 'innocently' once again, fully knowing it was more than just Somi.

"Well there was also that makeup artist, Maeng is it?"

"OMG MAENG" Jennie giggled and tried to cover it with her hand.

"What about her..?" you asked with a small laugh.

"She's just... she's just hilarious, she's always talking about how no man is good enough for her and everything but she's secretly thirsting after all these guys..."

You shared a chuckle and and then stood up, dusting off your jacket and getting ready to go out. You were reaching for the door when Jennie's voice halted you.

"Sorry not to be nosy but was it just those two? Because I thought I saw another text..."

Shit. You had been hoping to get away with that one. But with Jennie eyeing you suspiciously and her curious face so close, she had you cornered.

"Who was it oppa?"

"Oh that? That was just... Chaeyoung."

All of Jennie's lighthearted curiosity and playful aura drained from her face in an instant. "Oh. And what did she want?"

You couldn't wait for this conversation to end. Jennie was a feisty one, and she wasn't going to let it go until she had answers.

"She just wanted to show me her piano or something idk."

"Her piano, but that's at her house isn't it?"

"Is it? I don't know actually."

"Yeah it is. So... are you going to go see it?"

"Well definitely not right now,
because I'm going for bubble tea with a certain Jennie Kim."

Jennie gave a little mini-hop out of excitement and tried to contain her gummy smile. She knew she'd just won. Part of you wanted to smile along and be her partner in crime, another part of you wanted to shake your head and stay professional. These girls were your co-workers, there was no winning or losing except as a team. But why did it feel so different.

It was a weird guilty pleasure, or pleasure you couldn't fully enjoy because of your better judgement nagging you; the only somewhat comparable feeling was knowing you have a college exam coming up, but going to a party anyways.
