"Last thing I need is a wand."

"Well there is no better place to get one then at Olivanders" Hagrid tells me. "Do ya mind if you go in alone?"

I quickly shake my head to tell that it's fine and walk over to Olivanders. When I open the door I see nobody else there. I am suddenly wondering if I missed a sign that said closed. I turn around and am just about to walk out when I hear a noise.

"Well, well if it isn't Ms. Longbottom. Oh, I have been wondering for a while for you to come. It seems like just yesterday your mother and father were in hear buying there first wands. Such great people. It is really truly astonishing that people like your mother and father had to die so early. They would have had a great life. Now on to getting you a wand!" says Mr. Ollivander.

I'm just looking at him with my mouth open. I have never heard people talk about my parents like that.

"Yeah sure." I mumble.

He comes over and hands me a wand. I wave it and he snatches it back almost immediately. Soon after he hands me new one. He looks at it and takes it back. Finally he gets me a different one. As soon as I touch it, a miniature wind storm starts up in the room. I look over at Ollivander who is looking rather puzzled. I feel as if I have done something wrong.

"Curious. Real curious. You receive this wand. Rather curious."

"Sorry what's so curious?" I ask oblivious to what was going on.

"Well the Phoenix who's tail feather is inside your wand. But he only gave us one other feather. That feather resides in the wand of the man who gave you that scar."

I just stand there shocked. Then I see Hagrid standing outside waving at me. I quickly pay for my wand and run out to join him, but as I go I hear Mr. Ollivander say: The wand chooses the wizard. Even if it is not always clear why.
