Chapter 4: Encounters

Percy: When Annabeth came back she had had a whole running outfit on from sneakers to hair in a messy ponytail. Together we ran around camp and on our second time we decided to stop by the bunker where Leo was and see if he wanted to come take a walk on the beach with us.

"Uuhhhhh. . . Yeah sure! Lemme do one thing first. You too love birds stay right there!" Leo said. Annabeth rolled her eyes and I just chuckled. Beep-beep-BEEP-BEEP

"Duck!!" Leo yelled to us from behind this huge metal box he was working on. Annabeth and I dropped to the floor, in the nick of time too because right after the whole thing exploded.

As I got up I realized my hair was singed and the bottom of my shirt was on fire at the bottom. I yelped and put it out. By that time Annabeth had gotten up and brushed the ashes and dust off the back of her neck was a little red but she didn't seem to notice.

"LEO!" Annabeth yelled angrily "I told you-" She stopped because she knew it was useless. The Leo came around with his shirt completely burned to a crisp and his shorts 2 inches shorter then they had been this morning. Besides that, he was totally fine.

"What were You thinking?!?" Annabeth demanded.

"What are you making?" I asked laying a hand on the not even hot metal box. Choosing to ignore Annabeth Leo said " A fire/explosion-proof box. I was just testing it". That explained the explosion. Leo's projects only had a 1 in 3 chance of exploding and one had exploded yesterday so it wasn't time for another one today.

"You slow pokes coming? I can't wait that long! I'll DIE of boredom!!" Leo yelled from the doorway to the bunker. On our walk towards Thalia's tree. We walked outside the border of camp to scout for monsters or something of that sort. Maybe find a demigod in trouble. Leo was telling us about this weapon mending machine he is going to make.

"You will put your weapon in this slot and it will scan and repair it with celestial bronze and imperial gold, I will have stashed underneath it. How long it will take depends on how badly damaged it is. But usually, it will only take a matter of seconds," Leo told us.

"Wow! Leo that is going to be AWESOME!" I told him.

"That would be such a huge help in battle," Annabeth said excitedly.

"So Leo how big is this?" She asked Leo.

"Oringannly 4ft length 3ft width and same height.

But I could shrink it is I can connect the. . . . . ." I stopped listening when they got deep into the details of wires and whatnot. As we came upon Thalia's tree I muttered "nerds" with a smirk. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw a fist flying at me and I ducked right before Annabeth could punch me in the face. Before she could pull her fist back I grabbed her wrist and pulled her over my shoulder, making her land on her back. I leaned over and smiled at her she smiled back, Then kicked me right in the stomach causing me to fly onto my back.

"Ouch," I said on my back still, smiling up at Leo. He smiled at me and lit a fireball on his hand, I had just enough time to roll onto my side and jump up before Leo could scorch me.

"Dude, seriously?" I asked Leo, who had stopped throwing fireballs at me. He was going to say something but Annabeth nudged up and pointed with her head to a few trees and bushes towards the road that were moving.

"It's prob just a bunny Annabeth," I said, but I still drew Riptide.

"That's one big deformed bunny Perc," Leo said as a man walked out of the bushes and look directly at me and said.

"You are Perseus Jackson?" He asked
