"I think she's waking up."

My eyes shoot open faster than a bolt of lightning. To see my call mate, Rea, leaning over me.

"Whatever, not that it matters, next time maybe she won't." a voice said from the shadows.

"Why don't you care? She's been treated like we have been. We should be grateful she's alive." said Rea.

Rea has dark auburn hair, which looks black because of how dark the cell is. She has green eyes, like me. She's very defensive of everyone in our cell. Apart from Shadow boy.

Sudden realisation hits me, and I realised I have actually survived another night of pain.

"I survived? How-w I should be dead by now-w." I stutter.

"I know, it's a miracle Eanid. But you're still very weak. Ugh, I really wish I could use my powers on you." Rea moaned.

Rea is a healer, so every time someone comes back from the Silver Phoenix, she always huddles around them trying to help, or somehow find a way to break the seal to use her powers.

"You'll never break through the seal." came from the shadows once more.

"Oh shut it will you! So much for never giving up hope!" Rea shouted, but not loud enough to alert Ironfist.

"Shh both of you-u, you'll alert-t Ironfist." I just about croak out before everything goes black.

As my senses start to come back to me, I hear whispers being sent across the cell.

"Eanid doesn't understand what's happened yet, maybe she can save us all." I hear a girl's voice say.

It must be Rea, I thought. She's the only girl in our cell apart from me. As I struggle to remember what happened the previous night, I hear shouting outside the cell door. I hear my tummy grumble, when was the last time I had food? Just as I think they are here to give us food, they barge inside the room. A tall slim man heads into the room first, but then a few guards follow behind him.

"Rea, you're coming with us." said a deep male voice, Ironfist.

"No! I can't go! I'm getting weaker by the day!" Rea shouted back at him.

"Too bad. We need your powers more than you need your life." That was the last thing he said before the guards took Rea away to the torture machine called the Silver Phoenix.

A little while later I'm almost thinking about banging on the doors for food because I'm literally going to die of hunger instead of that torture machine. Of course, I'm stopped by my broken body, and I wouldn't want to get in trouble. The last thing I need is to be sent to see the Silver Phoenix one last time. As my eyes come into focus, I notice a tray with food on it in a dark corner of the cell. They must have brought it in whilst they were taking Rea, I hadn't noticed because I was weak and I was focused on listening to their conversation before Rea had been taken away.

I crawl pathetically toward the tray, when my mouth is greeted by water. I'm craving more and more by the second. I decided to leave some just in case of emergency. I eat my food, but my stomach is still hungry. It will have to do, I think, to myself.

"Has Rea returned yet?" I croak out into the darkness.

"No. I think she's dead meat." came back at me from the shadows.

"No, don't you dare say that! Maybe she's still unconscious in the machine.." I slowly end with a whisper.

"Eanid, you and I both know that because she hasn't returned yet, she's probably dead." said Shadow boy as he emerged from the shadows for the first time.

He had pale skin, dark blue stormy eyes, ruffled, messy, dark hair.

"What's your real name, Shadow boy?" I say.

He chuckles, "Is that seriously what you guys called me?"

"Well you were always in the shadows, and your voice seemed too young to be a man, so yes we did decide that was an appropriate name for you. Don't you agree?" I say, muffled with a chuckle.

"I suppose so, but the name's Luke." Luke pronounces.

"I'm Eanid." I say to him.
