Chapter 4
And as usual, starting from the past
🕴️🕴️**************************
Two hours after the lawyers left, we were still sat at the same position, the revelation was overwhelming.
"Dad left the company to you?" I heard Cecilia say or maybe ask, I couldn't really differentiate. So I didn't reply,I figured I didn't need too.
"Yeah,I shouldn't even be surprised, you were their Golden child anyway." She said pointedly.
" Cecilia you do not mean that?"
"I do. Am fucking 27,and they think you would do better at the company than me,at age 23." She stood up.
" That's enough babe." Davis warned holding her back.
"They left you in charge of the estate, that's more than enough." I stood up and walked out.
" Yeah, imagine me in five years and you in five years." Turns out she was following me.
" I can't deal with you right now Cecilia, you're bring immature."
"Ohhh, that's rich....not too long ago I was childish, now am immature!" She yelled.
"Am outta here."I bid grabbing my car keys.
" Yeah,you should."Davis whispered.
" And you,why don't you just move your things in,seems like you've made yourself at home already."I pointed at him.
" Leave Davis out of this."Cecilia warned.
" I wasn't holding him." I shrugged walking out.
I started the engine of my car and drove to a hotel. I wasn't spending the night in that house, especially with Davis in it.
After checking into the room,I helped myself to a glass of wine, had a bubble bath and then took a long rest. It felt great.++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
"Honestly, thinking back to it,it's like an angel was always there, saying amen to my unconscious prayers."
He chuckled. " What do you mean?"
" I asked him to move in,and the bastard did. My sister claims it's her house, seeing as that was the only hefty inheritance she got. I couldn't really say anything,I kept my thoughts to myself. I wanted to move out of the house, trust me. But then the company was closer to the house, and I couldn't get a nice enough apartment. I guess you could say I didn't really want to leave. I was born and raised in the house, and I already promised mom and dad that I would only leave when am moving to my husband's house." I sighed." Am not sure am ready to face Cecilia, don't know what to say to her."
He held my hand "you would do just fine,I trust you."
Trust.....that was a little top notch, was it that easy to trust someone...I wasn't sure I trusted him yet though.
"I know what you're thinking." He chuckled.
" How?"
" Am a lawyer duh,I read moods and faces,my last sentence was kind of close to home for you. "He applied shaving cream to his beard and met my eyes in the mirror." Six years in law school did that, and then seven years practicing it."
" Damn,you're old." I whispered,he smiled.
" Yeah, my mom won't stop reminding me. My two younger sisters are married each with a kid ." He washed the cream off.
" How old are you?"
" That is rude!" He exclaimed. "How about you guess?"
" And if I get it?"
"We see a movie."He answered.
"I thought I was under home arrest." I asked applying toothpaste on my brush.
"You are....I was thinking we watch it here,I'll get popcorn and coke,or probably Pepsi,we switch the lights off and pull the blinds down."
" Nice." I brushed my teeth. I still had one question though. "Do you usually bring female clients to your house, and then be super nice to them?"
" No,as a matter of fact, you're the first. Would you like me to be mean to you then?"He joked.
" Offcourse not." I waved him off.
We both had a bathroom in our respective rooms, but we ended up using the visitors toilet. Turns out he was really interested in our story. He had made breakfast before coming to wake up me.
"You can't get of that easily,I thought we were playing a game."He reminded.
" Okay fine,you look thirty,or almost thirty.probably thirty one." I shrugged.
"Okay,so which is it?"He laughed.
" Choose one,and tell me if am correct."
" Am twenty nine, thirty in two months time." He answered.
" I got that." I winked at him.
" You did not!"
" I so did." I argued.An hour later
Weird would be an understatement. Cecilia and I were practically bffs. Our sister bond used to be so tight people used to envy us. And our parents used to be so proud of the way we stood up for each other. And now,we could barely make eye contact.
"Why are you two so frozen?" Jude asked exasperated.
"Hi Cecilia." I waved. She ran forward, dropping her handbag,to pull me into a tight hug. "Can't.breathe." I managed to choke out.
"Sorry,I was just overwhelmed." She smiled sniffing back tears.
" You mean it's overwhelming to see me in something other than prison wear?" I joked.
She hugged me again. " God I missed you."
" Yeah yeah, same." I said hugging her back."wait up,how did you leave the hospital?"
She scrunched up her brows and spared a glance at Jude. They both made faces at each other.
"Oh uhm yeah,I told them I would be back in three hours." She answered smiling widely.
" I can't believe you didn't tell me you have cancer!"
"Cancer!!!!" She exclaimed looking at Jude again. " Yeah,it isn't really a nice story to tell,am sorry I didn't though."
" Hey,have you heard or seen Diana?" I asked leading her to the couch to take a seat.
" Nope, she disappeared. Haven't seen or heard from her at all."
"You're right on time Cecilia breakfast is served." Jude announced.
" No,I just had breakfast. And I'll leave you two to it. Priscy, show me to your room. I might end up being nauseous if you eat in my presence. I still haven't gotten past the morning sickness."she explained.
" What month now?"
" Fourth."She replied smiling. At least she got something great out of this mess.
"Come with me." I said standing up to lead her to the room.
