You arrive back home, the conversation you had with Yoongi still lingering in your mind. Richard isn't home yet and your parents are over for dinner. That's when you think it's a good opportunity to talk to them.
"Why would you want to do something like that, dear?" Your mother laughs after you tell her about wanting to audition for a play. "That's not a suitable profession for a family like us."
"But mom, I've always wanted to act. It's been a dream of mine."
"Listen Y/N," Your father starts, frustrated. "Have we ever said no to you? You have gotten everything you've asked for ever since you were little. You asked to go to college and we let you even though you're a young lady amongst several men there. How can you be so selfish now?"
You're so taken aback to the point of almost bursting into tears.
"But dad, mom," You speak quietly. "It'll make me happy."
"Happier than you are now?!" Your father raises his voice. "You have a wonderful husband, a nice home, and a great life while several people are struggling out in the world. What more could you want? What would Richard even think of this? Doesn't he make you happy?"
You're immediately reminded of Yoongi's words, "Does he truly make you happy? Make you feel special? Or are you still waiting for him to do so?"
"Tell me, Y/N. Are you not happy with Richard?"
You snap back to reality and respond in a fragile voice, "Yes, father, I am. I really am."
"We're just saying this for your own good, dear," Your mother says. "And Y/N, the only time you'll come to know true happiness is when you have children. It's such a wonderful experience."
"Right," You whisper. "Can you excuse me?"
Your parents nod and you go up to your room, breaking down crying as soon as the door closes.
Yoongi's words flood your mind again;
"You just need to find something that makes you happy... or someone."
"Why can't you stop being so scared of mommy and daddy and make up your own damn mind?"
"I can't! I can't do it!" You sob. "I'm scared! It's not that easy!"
You sit down on the bed and cry for a while, obviously upset with your parents, but then fix yourself up and make up your mind to find a way to follow your dreams.
