A man in his early thirties with loosen tie, disheveled hair and almost drenched in sweat dialled a very familiar contact of his. He tried to steady his breath and gripped his car steering a little too hard to calm himself. The last thing he want to do is worry the person on the other line. His call was answered immediately.

"Phi! Did you find him? Is he there?"

"Yes. I'm bringing him back." He can't talk much as he doesn't want to break down just yet.

"....."

Only loud sniffles was heard before the call was abruptly cancelled. He let out a loud sigh. There's a sharp pain in his temple. He never knew this is going to be worst then he thought it would be. He put his left hand on the small figure on his passenger seat. Patting the tiny head a lil. A lone tear escaped without his consent.

After about a good fourty  minutes drive he reached a quite neighbourhood. His car headed straight to the bungalows on top hills. He took a deep breath before getting down from the car and hoisting up the little passenger to enter the house. Unlike everyday, the house was pitch black today. He doesn't like it at all. He knew his husband despises darkness but today he understand why.

Once he entered the house he was greeted with a very tight hug and loud sobs. It almost made the little guy in his arm wake up. But he was fast to walk towards his bedroom and placed the boy on his bed. All while having his husband tugging to his shirt like a puppy.

Once he settled everything in his room, he loosened the fair hands from his shirt and hugged his husband very tightly. As if he'll lose him anytime soon. He knew he needed this, more like they both needed this.

"D-Does he really hate me phi? Wasn't I a good papa for him?"

His husband almost chocked on his own words.

"Arthit we know this will happen when we decided to let him know. And you're the best papa I've ever known! Stop blaming yourself."

"I don't want to lose him phi!"

"I'll talk to the orphanage and phi Tay tomorrow. Maybe they'll have a solution for this."

"I'm sorry for failing to give you a family phi."

With that Arthit walked away from his husband. Guilt is eating him up. Maybe he was stupid enough to think that it's fine to let their eight years old know that his mother was still very much alive. Arthit thought he was being a very good father that his son will never leave him. Now everything hits him like ice cold water. Their son was never theirs to begin with.

Few years of being in love and finally promising each other a lifelong love, the first thing high school sweethearts Kongpob and Arthit did was adopting a son. Yes, it was totally Arthit's idea. He knew his now husband really dreamed of having a baby boy and a happy family on his own.

But not until they were rejected for the eleventh time, Arthit understood the struggles of adopting as gay couple. They were even mocked by their own family that two men can't raise a child without a woman's touch.

Arthit was so determined that he made sure to even beg their adoption interviewer to give them a chance. What Arthit never knew was his husband was struggling looking at him being helpless and Kongpob was self blaming for all the hassle Arthit was going through.

Finally on a fine day, they got a call that changed their life upside down. The twelveth application was a success. Without blinking they both made sure to do every necessary thing to bring back their bundle of joy. A eighteen month old baby boy. They named him Wayo. Arthit would give up his life for the boy.

He raised the boy with all the love he could provide. Even his phi kong was super jealous of their own son. So much for challenging their relatives to be better parents for Wayo. Arthit decided it's time for his eight years old baby to know about his biological mother. Wayo was super intelligent for his age.

Hence the boy decided to take a bus on his own to find out about his mom. Which lead him to be lost and a kind soul brought him over to the police department. Arthit almost stopped breathing when the school teacher informed about Wayo missing after lunchtime. All he did was running around like a madman to find his baby. Only when he got a call from his husband he returned home.

"S-sowie p-papa!"

That voice broke the pregnant silence in the room. It's almost dawn. Where two men in tears was looking at a small boy on their bed. A fair man leaning on his husband's tanned chest holding his hands like his life depends on it. The chest he never knew one day would tremble while having him leaning on it.

I'm not sure if I want to leave it like this or I should write a part where Wayo meets his mom and ease up Arthit's insecurity. What do you guys think? 🤔
