On Autopilot

Time rushes past me

Inciting no reaction,

While I am sat here

With droopy eyes;

Barely seeing.

I can't hear;

I feel numb when

Noisy chatter wraps

me around

Worthless drama:

Things I could care less about.

Stupid crushes

And "Did you hear what he said?"

And friendships: breaking

Leaving a sour aftertaste with

The irony: "we'll be best friends forever!"

Amidst this whirlwind

Of stressful emotions

I later discovered a few things:

Bridges built with former strangers

Stand stronger than those old ruins;

That what 'he said' matters no more;

And that I can click 'autopilot' off,

And get back to my dramatic life,

Where everything is exaggerated tenfold!
