Jimin POV

I tried gulping but I couldn't, we we're out of water, my throat was dry and I held the urge to rip the dry skin off my lips.

It was close to twilight, a cold slow breeze caressed my skin and ruffled my hair. Sand crunching under my feet.

We've been walking all day, but at least we made it here. Brawley. It's not such a big town, it's perfect and we're near Walmart.

The road was quiet until now, Scarlett didn't whine like usual, but I could tell she forced her body sometimes to not stop and catch her breath.

My eyes threatened to close but I strugged it off pinching myself. I swear after we get food I'll fill myself and sleep for two days.

I can't really do that, but I wish I could.

Scarlett stumbled on her feet and I held her shoulder making her glance swift to me. She pushes herself more than she should.

"I'm fine." her voice came out weird, her mouth was dry. I nodded continuing to walk next to her.

Walking a little faster, we finally made it to Walmart. My feet felt like melting into the ground when I opened the door.

It opened with a loud noise and we squinted our eyes looking around for anyone or infected.

With a hand gesture, I pointed to Scarlett to follow me. I didn't hear nothing, it was really quiet.

Looking down, there was an empty bottle of beer, I grabbed it and threw it far in another aisle. Silence, I sighed and stepped forward.

Accidentally on a broken bottle.

Lifting my head, I heard a low growls slinging through the aisles in the direction where I threw the bottle.

Peeking beside the empty aisle we were in, I saw the infected person looking at the shattered bottle before moving forward.

Scarlett was glued to my arm the whole time with her free hand holding her knife carefully.

Barely turning my head to her, I could feel her hot breath fanning on my cheek. "Do what I say, okay? Stay here."

Frightfully nodding, slowly she released my arm. Walking forward, I reached the back of the aisle where the infected is, careful not to step on the broken glass.

My fingers tight on the knife, my breathing uneven, I looked at the back of the zombie, grinding my teeth.

With small quiet steps, I got closer, only its growls could be heard in the store. I squeezed my bottom lip between my teeth getting ready to kill it.

It used to be a women from what I see, with a quick move I grabbed its hear harshly hitting its head into the aisle stabbing it in the chin, the other side of the knife popping out in its mouth.

Letting it go, the body fell on the floor, dirty blood started to leak out on the messy floor. "You can come out kiddo."

Seeing her head peak out to look at the infected I couldn't help but smile a little, her inocent features squinting in disgust.

"Let's find some food, huh?" pulling the dead body's shirt, I cleaned the blade of my knife with it carefully.

Scarlett walked passed me, her eyes shifting around the shelfs of the store. Standing straight, I followed her around thinking of the times when we'd go shopping.
