3 years later...
"I'm so proud of you, Zhang Lihua, you know that?"
"Yes, ma..."
"A-and make sure you call every week!"
"Pa, are you crying??"
"Just do well, my love..."
"Li, we love you, you're amazing!"
"Aww, thanks little ones! I've got to go now, I have a call with my colleague."
"(Mama what's a colleague??) Ok, see you later, Lihua!"
"Bye guys!"
After Lihua's experience with her audition, she flew back to China without much conversation. Chunhua has still kept in touch, in fact, she's now Lihua's colleague! They went to the same law school and they took their work abroad; they are now the best celebrity lawyers in New York City, representing the likes of celebrity royalty across the world.
Lihua's desk phone rings away as she waits for a moment to pick it up.
"Chu-chu-chunhua speaking! How are you this fine morning?" Chunhua chirps, the speaker echoing throughout Lihua's office,
"Good morning to you too!" Lihua laughs,
"We have a client that requires both of our expertise, and they've booked a meeting this afternoon at 4."
"Ooh, a duo case! That's a bit late, though...I got in early for the ones that schedule for ridiculous times like half an hour from now, and they booked an hour before our day ends??",
"Li, do I need to remind you-",
"-how much they pay for our time and knowledge? No, you don't!",
"OK, good. See you at 4 in Conference Room B?"
"Room B at 4, got it."
"Have a great day, Lihua!"
"You too! See ya." The phone disconnects.
Lihua is honoured to be working for such well-known clients, and she's happy that she was able to buy a new house among other things for her family back in China, but somewhere deep down inside, something didn't feel right.
