For days, she lay upon her bed, neither eating nor sleeping. She barely flinched as it was announced that anyone who chose to change their gender was hereby banned from their kingdom, for she knew she had not chosen to be this way. And she didn't move as everyday, a merpriest, sent by her father, knocked on her door and whispered promises to help overcome her "illness". Over a period of seven days had passed when the little mermaid was visited by her sister, Maridessa. "I have brought good news, my sister." her sister proclaimed.
"Can anything be good news these days, my fair sister?" the little mermaid observed, blinking slowly.
"My sister," Maridessa pronounced. "I have heard news of one who can help you in your time of need."
"My sister," the little mermaid uttered, voice clenched in pain, "I have father's priest to remind of that daily, or has it gone blissfully unnoticed?" Maridessa laughed, the sound tinkling like bells and replied, "No, my sister. I have heard tell of a famous seawizard by the name of Alzisorin, who may be of service to you. Darling, it is better than laying here moping all day. Tonight, at the stroke of midnight, you will dress your most discreet and meet me in front of the apothecary. From there, we will find this Alzisorin and see if he can help. Farewell dear sister, and I shall see you tonight." With that, her sister left the room, leaving the little mermaid breathless with worry.
