Love on fire

Chapter 8:

My phone chimed indicating a message. I opened my eyes and spotted it at the vanity table. I took it and swiped the screen which showed there was a message from Kate.

"Are you up"

"Not yet ,what's up"

A moment later it pinged.

"I need a ride to school "

"OK will be there at 7:30"

I placed the phone back on the table then decided to sleep some more when I realized that I still had one hour before my usual time to wake up. I covered myself with the big fluffy blanket and tried to doze off but it was in vain. I therefore ripped the blanket from myself and stumbled to the toilet; after I had relieved myself from the extra ammonia I took a long shower. Seeing as I had some extra time to myself, I washed my hair and straightened it with my blowdryer . I was so lost in trying to put more effort in looking more stunning that I lost track of time then chuckled at the irony of  running out of time when I had enough at the beginning. 

Having no time to spare I  quickly took my bag,a laptop and phone then my car keys and rushed to the car .

I sped up the car on our  street which was thankfully empty before joining the main road that led to Kate's apartment. After navigating through some other vehicles I managed to be at Kate's place on time. I saw her window curtain move which meant that she was about to call me before she spotted me pulling in. Soon she opened the front door then came directly to my car. I unlocked the passenger door before she joined me.

"So,what happened to your precious car?"I asked in searching her face of any lies.

"Nothing happened, I just wanted to be driven around today." she said with a wink as I restarted the car. Kate connected her bluetooth to the car and selected a variety of songs that we listened to while driving. I held her gaze through the review mirror as she sang along to one of Chris Brown's song .  I knew she had something on her mind which she wanted to share with me but was still contemplating on how to voice it. She was proving to be hard to read as she never uttered a word apart from the lyrics to turn up the music.

After a some minutes we stopped by a coffee shop near the school gate  for some coffee before we proceeded to the school premises.

I collected my books and shoved them in to my bag as the other students made their exit from their classrooms. I waited until only a few of them were remaining before making my way to the door. It was already lunch hour and most of the students were headed to the school cafeteria.

I made my way to the packing lot where Kate was already waiting for me. I had earlier on decided to ditch the afternoon class so that Kate and I could come up with a plan on how to look for my missing sister.

When I learned that I had a surviving sibling somewhere around the world, I could not sit around doing nothing without knowing her whereabouts.

Kate came up with a plan that that we were to go together to my grandmother's place and start our search from there. As for my mum I could tell her that I wanted a vacation to put my mind in order after all the things that I had recently learned .

Kate insisted that we go as soon as possible so that we could unearth all the information we could about doctor Ruth Sanchez or "grandma" whatever suits you while she was still breathing.

The journey was scheduled for the following day before noon as per the available flight .After the flight had been booked and all arrangements met, we both opened our laptops and searched for any information we could get on Dr. Sanchez.
