Chapter 6: Birthday Party

Charlie and Vaggie were setting up decorations and balloons for the party, which was for my party to be exact. Husk was by the bar as always drinking, Angel was behaving for once and actually helping, and Alastor was in the kitchen making the cake. I looked around to see what I could do to help and I seen that the table for the party hasn't been set up yet, so I began to do that. Niffty came over and helped me set up the table without any hesitation, it was sweet of her to help and I appreciated it.

Charlie got down from a ladder and looked up at the decorations. “These decorations are really pretty, what do you think Kayla?”

I turned my attention towards her. “I have to agree, they really are.” I said as I looked at the decorations with a smile.

“You know, this is our first time celebrating a birthday, and I'm glad that yours is the first we get to celebrate.” Charlie said with a smile.

“Aww me too, and I'm glad to celebrate it with you guys.” I said as I smiled back. “I think I should go check on Alastor and see how the cake is coming along.”

“Good idea.” Charlie said.

I turned away from them and started walking towards the kitchen, when I walked in the kitchen I seen Alastor working hard on the cake. I smiled as I walked up to him. “Hey my love, how is the cake coming along?” I asked.

Alastor looked my way he had some icing on his apron including some on his cheek I couldn't help but giggle at this. “Its coming along perfectly my dear. But, what is it are you laughing at?” He asked with a tilt of his head and a grin.

“Oh nothing, it's just that...” I wiped the icing off his cheek with a finger and booped his nose which icing stayed on the tip of it. “You had icing on your cheek and now it's on your nose.” I laughed.

Alastor chuckled and took out a small towel from his apron and wiped the icing off his nose with it. “I suppose I did, I must have been working hard on this cake. But of course I wanted it to be perfect for you my love.” His smile widened as he said this.

I smile at him. “Aww, well the cake does look beautiful.”

“It may be beautiful, but not as beautiful as you.” Alastor said as he kissed my cheek. 

I blushed at this and after a moment I couldn't help but kiss his cheek back. “So, is the cake finished then?” I asked him.

“Indeed it is.” Alastor put a cover over the cake so that nothing would get on it.

Alastor then walked out of the kitchen and set the cake on the table, as he did this he looked around the room at all the decorations and balloons. “I must say, everything looks just amazing. You all did a marvelous job on everything!”

Angel walked up to us as Husk was following him. “So, is it time for the party? Because I'm starvin'.” Angel asked.

I chuckled at this. “Well, I believe so. Everything looks like it's set up, so let the party begin!”

Everyone gathered around me and began to sing “Happy Birthday” to me. As they finished I made a wish and the blew out the candles that were burning, after I did this everyone clapped and then Alastor kissed the top of my head and he then began to cut the cake and everyone sat down at the table. Alastor gave everyone a slice after he gave me one first, he then sat down next to me and gave himself a slice. He normally didn't eat sweets, but this was for a special occasion so he didn't mind doing it this once.

After everyone was finished eating it was time for my presents. Alastor let everyone give me their presents first, I was concerned to why he didn't want to go first because he usually likes to. But I didn't let it bother me too much, as they say, save the best for last. So maybe his present was too good for him to go first and I started to get a little more excited wondering what it could be.

When everyone was finished giving me their presents Alastor stood up and pulled out a ring from his coat pocket, he then spoke. “This ring is a symbol of my love for you and my plans to marry you. Until we are joined in marriage, this ring is a testament to my commitment to our relationship. A promise solidifies the bond between two people, with this promise ring, I vow to honor that bond forever.”

Alastor then put the ring on my finger and I couldn't help but blush like crazy, although I felt like I could cry with happiness at the same time. I got up and hugged him tightly and kissed his cheek, I felt him hug me back and his grin widened as he did.

Angel smirked. “You guys know what's gonna happen next, right?”

“Don't you dare say it, Angel.” Vaggie said in a serious tone.

“Pfft, whatever ya say babe.” Angel said with a scoff.

I ignored Angel and continued to hug Alastor for a bit longer, he didn't even let go of me he just pulled me closer to him and just held me in his arms. I sighed happily, this wasn't a new beginning for just me, but this was also a new beginning for Alastor as well. I knew whatever was going to happen me and Al would get through it together, no matter how hard it got. We were going to have some laughs, tears and a whole lot of other things, but in my heart I knew we were going to be ok.
