Chapter 8

Cheryl's pov:

I was sleeping peacefully until I woke up to my alarm. I sat up and looked at my clock seeing it was 7:43am meaning I missed my 6:00 alarm and Ava is probably going to be late for school today.

"Great" I mumbled.

I looked to my right, hoping to see Toni but she wasn't there. I instantly became sad. I was hoping we could have the morning together and talk about us before she left. I sighed and got out of bed quickly, remembering I still had to get Ava up.

When I got to the kitchen I was shocked at what I saw. Ava was up and ready, eating and talking to Toni while she finished up whatever it was she was cooking. I leaned on the wall by the kitchen watching them.

"And my friend Jack has a lizard" Ava said to Toni before stuffing her mouth with another bite of pancakes.

"That is so cool Ava" Toni laughed.

Toni looked up and saw me watching their little interaction. She smiled at me saying,

"Hey your up! Come sit down and I'll get you a plate"

I smiled then sat down next to Ava on the island while Toni fixed me a plate of breakfast.

"So, you got Ava up and ready?"

"Oh yeah I uh, I hope that was okay. I just didn't want to wake you" Toni explained as she sat my plate in front of me.

"Thank you. Not just for the food, but for getting Ava ready"

"No problem cherry"

I blushed and put my head down a bit, not wanting her to notice but I'm sure she did judging by the smirk on her face. We all finished breakfast and I was dressed and ready to take Ava to school.

"Hey cher I was uh, wondering if I could go with you to drop Ava off?" Toni asked when I got to the living room.

"Of course tones"

"Come on we're going to be late mommy" Ava wind said, trying to drag us both out the door.

"Okay we're coming"

"Have a good first day Ava!" I called out to her as she was walking away towards the school.

Suddenly she quickly turned around and ran back to the car.

"Wait! Toni, will you be there when I get back?"

Toni looked over at me unsure. I softly smiled at her.

"If it's no trouble" I whispered to her.

"Then yes, yes I will"

"Yay! Okay bye!" And she ran off.

"Cheryl are you sure? I don't want to be a burden to you"

"Toni it's totally fine. In fact, you can stay as long as you'd like. I feel less lonely when your around"

She smiled at me with that adorable smile I could never forget. I wanted to be with her so badly. I always have, but I know it will take some time.

"Do you want to get a coffee? I know this really adorable Cafe just downtown" I asked.

"Yeah of course"

I smiled at her once more before starting the car back up.

Toni's pov:

"Soo, how have you been?" I asked, while I took a sip of my cappuccino.

"Uhm, it's been okay. I just can't believe Ava is in kindergarten already" she sighed.

God she was so beautiful. She was much more mature then when I last saw her. I'm so mad at myself for what I did and how I was taken away from her.

"What about you? How have you been?"

"Well, the boys and I have a small apartment together which sucks because guys are disgusting. We all got jobs at 'American Eagle' in the mall, it's small but it pays the bills I guess, and that's basically it" I didn't want her to judge me for how I live, not that she would, but I was still worried.

"Well you could stay with Ava and I. I know it's soon and we haven't even talked about us yet but Ava adores you and we have the room" she said hopefully.

"Uhm you know what, maybe I will"

She had a huge smile on her face, like the biggest smile and my heart started to flutter at how excited she was.

"Okay everything else aside... Let's talk about us" she said seriously.

"Right us" I was so nervous.

"I think we should maybe take things slow, until we're both ready to take a step forward?" she said.

"I think that's a great idea cherry" I knew she loved when I call her that and I wanted to see her blush. Which is exactly what she did.
