The small group of boys stepped into the abandoned mansion, the last of them shutting the door with an ominous creak. The dark foyer was large and empty, save for the copious amounts of dust littering the floor and a singular shoe laying in the middle of the room. It was placed perfectly in the center of the room as if to serve some purpose. It seemed as though the owner of the shoe had once stood at the same place – facing towards the door – before decidedly leaving one shoe behind.
"Yeah, uhm, why is there a random shoe lying there?" Jay, undoubtedly the most scared of the bunch, noticed the object first, pointing it out.
"Huh, cool." Euijoo, the moron who had suggested they visit the house, walked towards it, picking it up and looking as though he were examining it. Then he swirled around, throwing it face first at Jay, who proceeded to crumple to the ground with a shriek.
Seon let out an exasperated sigh.
"Jay, get up. The ground is disgusting."
"I've been wounded. Leave me alone."
"You were hit by a shoe. You're fine."
Letting out a sound that was somewhere between a screech and a whine, Jay stood up, sending Euijoo a glare that he doubted the other could see through the dark. He gracefully lifted his arm, promptly giving him the middle finger. He assumed the boy had seen it because he gave a little laugh, sending a finger heart his way.
"Put your fingers away before I chop them off."
"Please, you wouldn't hurt a fly."
"That's because flies are harmless little creatures. You, on the other hand, I wouldn't hesitate to clock across the face."
A crash was heard from upstairs and any momentary confidence flew out the window as fear settled back onto Jay's face.
"Did you guys hear that? Please tell me you heard that."
"Well fuck." Jake whispered, his voice rising a few octaves higher. He attempted to hide further behind Sunghoon. "I knew we shouldn't have come here. Let's get out before someone gets possessed and kills all of us."
The group ignored his comment, walking through the foyer and into the living room. Jake muttered a "no one listens to me in this household" but continued to leech onto Sunghoon nonetheless, following the group closely.
Jay – already absolutely terrified – trailed behind the group, walking reluctantly. Looking back at the door with a forlorn gaze, he noticed the shoe had disappeared. Giving another shriek, he ran ahead grabbing onto Seon's arm.
"THE FUCKING SHOE IS FUCKING GONE WHAT THE FUCK!?" he all but screamed in Seon's ear. The boy winced, instinctively moving his head away from the chicken of a teenager.
