2 months later
"Sarada... come on, dear. Please stop..."
Sakura had been trying to calm her down for the past hour and half. She just wouldn't.
"P-papa!" She kept on calling out for her father. Her tear stained face crumbled at the sight of her mother.
Sakura kneeled down to her daughter level. They were in their living room, Sarada in the middle crying while Sakura tried calm her down. Sakura - planning to carry her daughter with the hope that her tantrum would subside – reached out for her.
"No m-mama. I want papa here. Call papa right now!" She croaked with her tiny voice. "I miss papa."
The Uchiha matriarch helplessly looked at her crying daughter. She pulled Sarada close to her for a hug. If only an explanation of many words would be understood by a four year old. "Sarada... your Papa is on a very important mission, he can't come home right now."
"Why, Mama? Why? Boruto has his Papa in the f-festival." Little Sarada paused, but her tears were nonstop.
Sakura looked away. She struggled to find the right words. Sakura had told Sarada that her father had gone on a mission but she had never specified for how long. Every day, Sarada used to ask her about Sasuke and every day she used to say the same thing, 'Papa is still on mission. He'll come back when he's completed it.'
But today, after she had picked Sarada up from the daycare, Sarada had asked her if Sasuke would be coming for the Cherry blossom festival and for her birthday. It was then that Sakura felt hopeless. She had tried to ignore Sarada's question and it had worked but during the festival, Sakura noticed how longingly Sarada had looked at Boruto, who was sitting on his father's shoulders whist looking at the fireworks. It broke her heart looking at her daughter's expression that Sakura declined her friend's invitation to celebrate her birthday and left with Sarada. While coming back home, Sarada was crying silently and it got worse when they reached home.
It had been two whole months without Sasuke and although he used to take month long missions, it never felt like an eternity. The last contact she had with him was weeks ago, he had sent her a message saying that he would be travelling through a new dimension this time, so he wasn't sure how long it'd would take and had told her to not worry.
Sakura sighed, her daughters cry had subsided but tears still leaked out of her eyes. Wearily she reached out for her daughter again, this time Sarada willingly found comfort in her mothers embrace. She sobbed silently while Sakura rocked her in her arms. Resting her head in the crook of her mother's neck, she whispered, "Mama does Papa not care for us?"
Sakura grasped at her daughter's sudden question. She lifted her daughters head and softly spoke to her, "Sarada, dear, your Papa cares for us both deeply. Right now, he is away protecting us."
"Why is he not here?" she argued back. Her eyes gleaming with both anger and curiosity.
"Because he has to fight the bad guys."
"But you said bad guys are not here in Konoha," Sarada made a face. She wanted her Papa with her and her mother.
"Sarada, the bad guys are not in our village because your Papa is fighting them."
Sarada pouted, "But what if Papa gets hurt?"
"Sarada, you don't have to worry about your Papa, he is one of the strongest ninjas. Like your Uncle Naruto," Sakura smiled fondly at the change of expression in Sarada's face.
"Really Mama? How strong is Papa? Tell me Mama, can Papa throw shiruiken?" Sarada's sudden curiosity and excitement to hear about Sasuke, melted her heart. She laughed at Sarada's mispronunciation and corrected her.
"Shuriken, Sarada. And yes, your Papa is the best at throwing them."
"Mama, tell me more about Papa," Sarada pleaded. She was clutching onto her mother, a yawn escaped from her mouth and Sakura stood up, carrying Sarada to her room. Putting her in bed and wiping all the dried tears off her cheeks. Sakura tucked her daughter in and bought her two fingers close to her forehead and poke her lightly.
"Maybe next time I'll tell you about your Papa," she smiled lovingly at her daughter.
Sarada let out another yawn and said softly, "Mama, can you tell Papa to come back fast."
Sakura, kissed her daughter's small hand and said, "Of course. I will send him a letter. Now go to sleep. I'll be here by your side."

Sasuke had been watching over Sakura's shoulder as she changed the blanket for Sarada. His daughter was a week old and he couldn't be happier. Every time he looked at her, or held her, he felt a wave of emotions. When she had first opened her eyes, both him and Sakura saw that she took the famous black Uchiha eyes. A part of him was sad that she didn't take on her mother's minty green color. Now, looking at her eyes they reminded him of his brothers. Soft black eyes stared back at him.
"Sasuke, can I ask you something," his wife turned to look at him.
"Hn?"
"Why did you give her your t-shirt last night?"
Sasuke blushed and walked away from his wife. If he told her the reason, she would laugh at him. He heard her follow him as he left the room. The dark hallway of Orochimaru's hideout reminded him of his past time here. She closed the door behind them and stopped him.
"Sasuke, answer me. I just wanted to know why you gave her your shirt. Did you think she was cold last night?" Sakura asked in a worried tone.
"It's nothing Sakura. I don't want to speak about it."
Sakura huffed in annoyance. If it was something related to their daughter she wanted to know. "I'm your wife, you can tell me."
He looked at her and she seemed so sincere that he said it out loud, "I gave her my t-shirt because I thought that she wasn't connected to me as she is to you. She was in you for nine months and whenever you talk to her she moves and responds but when with me she doesn't react like she used to when she was in your womb. I felt like she doesn't care about me. You once told me that wearing my shirt makes you feel like I'm with you so I thought I could do the same with her."
If Sakura could melt from cuteness, she would be a puddle by now. Sasuke's confession melted her heart. She giggled a little and got close to him. Holding his hand with one of hers and her other on his cheeks she smiled lovingly at him. He leaned onto her touched, half afraid that she could feel the heat radiating from his cheeks.
"Anata, I understand why you feel like she's more connected to me than you but I can guarantee you that she isn't. She's just a week old and soon we'll both get the opportunity to bond with her. The way you've been hovering around her all the time and taking care of her, she'll love you for that. You just have to wait."
"Hn," he felt his fear lessen after hearing his wife, "Thank you, Sakura."
"Now, when are we going back to Konoha?"
Sakura closed the door of her room and let out a sad smile at that memory. 'Oh Anata, Sarada definitely loves you the most.'
