ahyeong sat in her room, the darkness surrounding her. she stared out the slightly tinted window, watching the rain pour from the sky. there was a knock at her door. ahyeong got off her bed and walked over, opening it to reveal chohee. chohee walked into the room, giving her best friend a hug, "oh, are you alright? how are you feeling?" she asked, pulling away and looking at ahyeong. even though the room was dark, she could still see all of her features.
"i don't know," ahyeong whispered. her eyes began to tear up, "i never thought this would happen to me."
"i know, honey," chohee whispered, caressing ahyeong's head, her soft hair against chohee's lavender hand. chohee lead ahyeong to her bed, sitting her down.

"just let everything out," she said. as soon as she finished her sentence, ahyeong cried out of sadness, but mostly due to anger. in her head, all she could ask was why her parents would hand her off to benefit the business. it angered her. chohee pulled away and grabbed the pillow at the head of the bed, holding it in front of her, "go ahead and hit it."

💍

taehyung and jimin sat on the couch sipping their soft drinks. jungkook paced around the room, pulling at his hair. jimin put his drink down on the class table and stood up, "jungkook, you'll go bald if you keep pulling at your hair like that," he said. jungkook stopped pulling at his hair sat down in the chair across from jimin and taehyung.
"now, why don't you tell us what happened at this dinner?" taehyung suggested, placing his drink down and putting his feet up on the glass table. jimin pushed taehyung's feet off with a scowl.
"well, i've been put into an arranged marriage. the," he gagged, "wedding is this weekend," jungkook said.
"who is it with?" jimin asks, grabbing his drink. taehyung did the same.
"yeah, who is it? spill the tea," taehyung says. jungkook rolls his eyes, "i'm getting married to park ahyeong. our parents say it's to benefit the companies," jungkook groans, hiding his face from his friends. jimin pulls a blunt out of his pocket and hands it over to jungkook, "wanna try it now?" jungkook took the blunt and put one end on his mouth. taehyung takes out his lighter and lights it.

jungkook inhales the smoke, then coughs furiously. jimin and taehyung watched as they blew the smoke out with ease. jungkook continued to cough uncontrollably, his cheeks burning up and flushing a slight pinkish-red. his eyes watered like he was about to cry, but he wiped them quickly. jungkook looks over to jimin and taehyung, who were chuckling.

"the pain," jungkook whispers, grabbing a hold of his neck. jimin stood up, patting his back, "you'll get over it, kookie," he chuckles.

the next day
ahyeong walked down the halls of her high school, walking over to her locker. chohee was following behind her, checking her schedule for meetings interviews. chohee was always a very busy person, but she always found the time to be with her best friend. the female caught up to ahyeong, locking her arms with hers, "okay, i know you have class with him first hour, so, i've made a plan to help you avoid him," she says.
"what is it?"ahyeong asks, banging her head on her locker.
"I call the school as your mom and tells them you're sick."
"but i'm already here," ahyeong counters. chohee's smile faltered, then, she nodded her head, "you're right. i'll think of something else." ahyeong grabs a hold of chohee, pulling her back, "it's okay. i'm going to have to see him all day everyday after this weekend. no point in trying to avoid him," she says. chohee nods understandingly, "if he hurts you i'm gonna' do something about it,"

the first bell rang and the two went their separate ways to their classes. how ironic that they're best friends but they never have the same classes together.

💍

jungkook continued to walk down the halls, his hands in his pockets and his headphones in. seokjin walked over to the male, tapping his shoulder, "mr. jeon, shouldn't you be in class?" he asks. jungkook bows ninety degrees to the older male, "i'm sorry, sir. i'll be heading to class right away," jungkook says. seokjin cocks his brow, taking a pen out and writing a pass to the male.
    "what's your class and teacher?"
"Korean history, mr. lee," jungkook replies. seokjin scribbles his signature and hands the pass to jungkook. jungkook bows once again and is on his way to the other side of the school. once he was out of seokjin's sight, he turns the corner and leaves through the back door.

💍

"oh, honey, this wedding hanbok looks so beautiful on you," mrs. park says, admiring her daughter. ahyeong falsely smiles, looking at herself in the mirror.
"you and dad pulled me out of school to try on a wedding hanbok?" ahyeong asks, looking at her reflection in the mirror. her frown was visible, her eyes droopy, her posture slumped. mr. and mrs. park looked at each other, their brows knitted together. the seamstress looked over at the parents, the sadness in her eyes were all for ahyeong.

"ahyeong, your mother and i are going to go buy some food. we'll be right back," mr. park says, rubbing his daughters shoulder. they two adults left the shop, going to the food shop across the street. ahyeong sighed, continuing to stare at herself in the mirror. the seamstress placed her slightly wrinkled hands on ahyeong's shoulders. she sighed a soft sigh, "everything will be okay, ahyeong," she says.
"how do you know?" ahyeong asks, looking up and seeing the reflection of the older lady.
"because, i was once in your place. my parents arranged a marriage for me when i turned eighteen to the one boy i disliked the most. that boy and i were always in competition with each other."
"why were you guys always in competition?" ahyeong asks.
"he would always claim he was better than me at something, so i would always try to prove him wrong. we would always try to be better than the other at something. to us, it had to be one who was better than the other. anyway, our parents were business men and women, like yours. they wanted to improve the company, so they arrange a marriage for us. i absolutely hated the idea of getting married to him," she chuckles, running her hand along ahyeong's hair.
"what was it like marrying someone you disliked against your will?"

💍

jungkook avoided his parents everywhere in the house. every time his parents tried to talk to him, he would avoid eye contact, he wouldn't even look at his parents. the male would scoff and walk past them as if they were ghosts. every word they spoke went in one ear and out the other. he never processed what they wanted to say to him.

"i don't know what to do anymore. he won't listen to us," mrs. jeon says. her fingers fiddled with each other and mr. jeon put his pen down. he took his glasses off and looked at his wife, "it's going to take some time, darling." mrs. jeon sighed, "i hope you're right. jungkook has a history of cutting people off."
"we're his parents; he won't cut us off like he does to those old friends." mrs. jeon sighs, turning around and leaving the bedroom.

💍

jungkook's window was wide open and his legs hung out of it. he held a blunt between his pointer and middle finger. he inhaled the smoke, then blew it out. he sighed, staring at the sky. it was a beautiful dark blue mixed with black and a little bit of purple. the sky was perfect in his eyes. he smiled, staring at the stars looking down from above, holding his hand out. a star got closer and closer, and he reached farther and farther. the star was so close it was almost in his hand.

"jeon jungkook!" his mother screeched. jungkook lost his balance and looked back. his mother looked a little blurry and when he was able to get himself back into the room, the floor was moving. it was moving right under his feet and he felt like he was floating. he chuckled, dropping to the floor in a fit of laughter. his mother watched in slight horror, "what the hell are you doing?" she asks, walking over and taking the blunt from his hands. she threw it out.

💍

ahyeong isolated herself in her bedroom, refusing to come out. the thought of getting married was still stuck in her head. this wasn't her plan. her plan was being ruined by both her parents and jungkook's parents. she pulled out her life planner slash diary out from under her bed. she looked through the pages she wrote down. when she was going to get married, what type of job she'd have, how long she'd train for that job and her income from that job. she had down how old she'd be when she bought her first house and when she'd have her first baby. she had things planned out for if her child would be a girl or a boy. she ran her fingers down the page of her wedding. everything she planned for that day was no longer going to happen.
