"Goodbye, Hawkins."

Gracelyn had woke up earlier then Johnathan and Joyce. Yawning, she grabs her glasses from the bed side table on her side of the bed, putting them on she sits up, looking over at her best friend, who sleeps on the other side of the bed.

Many of the kid in their school assume the two are dating, just because of how close they were, they are hardly seen without the other. But the idea of dating Johnathan makes Gracelyn laugh - and cringe - she sees him as nothing but a best friend, a brother.

She climbs out of bed, grabbing her clothes from the end of the bed and heads to the bathroom to change out of one of Johnathan's shirt and sweats.

Writing and leaving a note in Johnathan's room, that she'll meet him at the school to help with the posters.

Gracelyn makes it home just in time to take a shower, change and have breakfast.

After changing she makes her way to the kitchen, finding Dustin sitting in his usual seat. She does what she does every morning, picks up his hat and ruffles his hair.

Her brother groans, as she places his hat back on his head.

"How you doing?" she asks him, reaching over his shoulder for an eggo waffle.

"Um, Fine?" he responses, but it comes out like a question.

Gracelyn looks at him, watches as he avoids her gaze, looking off to the left. "What are you lying about?" she questions.

"What? I'm not lying, why would I be lying?" Dustin rushes to ask, he looks off to the left again.

"That." she says, pointing at him.

"What?".

"You keep looking to the left, it's your tell." Gracelyn says, crossing her arms, "So, I know when you're lying.".

"Uh. Um." Dustin tries to think of something, anything to say, but ultimately comes up with nothing. So, he grabs his backpack, jumps out of his chair and rushes out of the room, "Gotta go, I'll be late, Bye, Love you!" he yells over his shoulder.

"Dustin!" Gracelyn yells out, just as he slams the front door shut.

Gracelyn sighs, finishing her eggo, "He'll tell me sooner or later." she says to herself.

Gracelyn pulls into a parking space at the school, like every other day, only it's not like every other day.

She skips her daily pep talk in the mirror, she grabs her things and climbs out. She leans on the hood of the car, waiting and searching for her best friend.

"Hey, foureyes!" she hears Tommy call out, looking up she sees him, Carol and Steve walking by.

"Waiting for the creep?" Carol says, laughing.

Gracelyn says nothing, she's never really been good with confrontation - no matter how much she just wants to punch them - so she keeps quiet, just taking the insults.

She just glares at them.

"Ooh, look at that face!" Tommy says, laughing along with Carol.

Gracelyn then makes eye contact with the one and only Steve Harrington, the schools "King", she's never understood that boy. He's never directly attacked her, but he has laughed at the things others say, so she doesn't understand him. He's not laughing now though, just looks at her, making her furrow her eyebrows, as if to say what are you looking at?
