The three were sitting at the waiting area near the emergency room. Officer Daniels rushed towards the hospital with Sam as soon as they heard the news from Ely.
“Hey Ely, how are you?” JC asked. He sounded worried. “I called your Mom so that she wouldn’t have to be worried about you…”
“I’m okay. Shai is in the emergency room, but it’s not that bad,” Ely replied wearily.
“Officer Chucks is here to ask some questions… again, and just tell him all the information he need,” JC requested from them.
“I’ll go first. I’m really sleepy. It’s about 9pm and I need to rest, is that okay?” Jayrome pleaded.
“Yeah, you go ahead,” Vince said. Sam was waiting not far from there. Jayrome went and sat beside him. Sam started asking.
“Bryan is in my office, he will be detained until tomorrow,” JC told Ely.
“He is innocent, he’s not the killer,” Ely stated firmly.
“Yeah, I know, but we must still keep him for good,” JC replied, brushing her niece’s back to comfort her.
JC went to check on Shai and Ely followed him. He just glanced at Vince.
“How are you?” JC asked.
“Doctor said its okay, it’s just a minor cut so nothing to worry about,” she said glumly. The doctor gave them all a warm smile as he checked Shai’s medical record.
“Just take some rest. No vein or muscle has been damaged,” he said, closing the file.
“Thank you,” Ely and JC said at the same time. Ely moved closer to Shai and rubbed her lower arm.
“Excuse me, I’ll just go outside and check on my other patients,” the doctor excused himself out of the room.
“It’s better if we’ll just give you a ride home,” JC offered after the doctor left.
“Okay, but how’s Bryan? Is he the killer?” Shai asked, trying to get up.
“I really don’t know. The investigation is still in progress,” JC answered.
“Is it true?” Ely suddenly asked.
“What do you mean?” he turned to her niece and looked at her confusingly.
“Is it true? Uhm… about my father?” Ely asked, her voice trembling.
Before JC could even manage to utter a decent answer, Ely’s phone rang. JC glanced at Shai, who looked suddenly trembled in fear.
“It’s just mom…” she finally confirmed to loosen the tension. “Hello, mom?”
“Hello, Ely. Can you ask Shai how’s the CUT?” a creepy voice sarcastically inquired.
“Where are you? Where’s my Mom!” Ely screamed at the phone. She was in a rage.
“She fine Ely, she’s with me,” the man calmly said. “Tell me Ely, how was it having no father?”
“Listen you arsehole! Don’t dare touch my Mom, or else…”
“Or else what Ely? You’re gonna kill me?” the man finished her sentence for her. “You can’t do anything, all you have to do is watch!” the man shouted as he laughed mischievously before hanging up.
“We got to go, he’s at our house!” Ely yelled in panic and worry. She rushed out of the emergency room.
“Wait, Ely!” JC exclaimed as he tried to keep pace with Ely.
