Chapter Four "Rules, Rules"

 

Ely was dreaming again but this time she’s the one who was chasing someone. She was holding a knife, ready to stab the girl. She woke up breathing heavily.

She checked her phone and noticed that there were several text messages. She scanned it and saw a text from Bryan Estrada.

We need to talk at the school library. 9AM, it’s an emergency.

She replied okay I’ll be there. She was about to put down her phone when it rang.  There was a call.  It was from an unknown number.

“Hello?” she said.

“Hi Ely,” the man said. Ely was feeling a little troubled. “Are you expecting my call?” he asked.

“Who is this?” she asked in a croaky voice.

“What about you Ely? Do you know who you are? Do you really know yourself?” the man continuously mocked her.

“What are you talking about? Wh-Who are you?” Ely stammered.

“Poor Ely, she didn’t know anything, don’t worry we’ll meet soon…” before she could even react, the man hung up.

She was terrified and confused. Who was that? And what does he mean when he said do I know myself? She rumbled on her thoughts. She decided to call Shai.

“Hello?” Shai answered the call in a low tone. She was still distressed because of what happened last night.

“Shai, did you just call me?” Ely asked.

“No, but I’m about to. Did you receive Bryan’s message?” Shai replied… her voice a little louder.

“Yes. I’ll be at school in a minute. I guess I’ll just see you there,” Ely said as she hung up.

She got up to her feet and went downstairs. He passed at his brother’s room. He was still there dozing off from their party last night.

Meantime, Bryan was waiting on the library. The classes were still suspended yet some of the students were at the library. Bryan saw Vince scanning some books on the shelf.

“Hey Bryan!” Vince called out, forgetting that they were in the library. All of the students looked at him and the librarian rang the bell. He approached Bryan timidly.

“Hey Vince…” Bryan whispered as Vince sat beside him. “I will meet Ely and Shai later. I have something to tell them,” he continued.

“What’s that all about?” Vince asked curiously. Then they heard Shai and Ely approaching.

“Hey Bryan! Hey Vince!” Shai greeted in a loud voice. The librarian rang the bell again in an irritated manner, Shai just held her mouth in response. The girls giggled until they sat down joining the guys.
