Moonpaw woke in the same dark foggy forest as the night before. She walked forward on the path, her fur crawling as she was there again, just like the cat named Mapleshade had said she would be. The night before she had dreamed of this place and now, she prayed that Star clan would protect her. She heard a voice and realized it was calling her name,

"Moonpaw? Moonpaw? Ah, there you are!" The voice echoed around her, bouncing off the trees. She looked around jumping as high as the sky when she saw Mapleshade behind her.

"You're late!" She said to Moonpaw, "You need to be here exactly at sunset. No earlier, no later. Understand?" She asked, Moonpaw nodded her head.

"Now, let's go. You must meet your mentor. His name is Lithepelt and he one of our best trainers." As they walked, they neared a clearing, "He will teach you well, I hope. And soon . . . you will be ready." Almost immediately after she was done talking, something slammed in to Moonpaw, sending her flying across the clearing. She was slammed against a tree, the breath knocked out of her. She kicked frantically at her attacker and then threw him across the clearing. Moonpaw charged, then with unsheathed claws, raked her attackers back. The cat grinned and then stood up,

"Well done, you show great promise." His licked his wound with long rhythmic strokes, His black pelt slowly un-fluffing.

"Moonpaw, this is Lithepelt, your mentor." Mapleshade said, an evil looking grin on her face.

"Oh! I'm sorry, I didn't realize, sorry!" Lithepelt spoke after her,

"First lesson, one does not apologize in the Dark Forest." Moonpaw nodded confused. "Now, let's get started. Unsheathe your claws and attack me." Just a weird recurring dream, and he's fine after I defended myself the first time. Just do it, she thought. She took a deep breath, and then lunged at Lithepelt. He somehow disappeared and caused her to land hard and then roll across the clearing.

He suddenly appeared behind her. "You will learn that right now. What I just did was called fading. It is where you can disappear for a few moments, and then reappear somewhere else. You can reappear into reality or anywhere in the Dark Forest. Now try, think of fading to that tree." He instructed her. She closed her eyes and she suddenly felt very strange, and then she got dizzy. She opened her eyes and she had moved about the length of a fox's tail. "Well done for a beginner. Now try again." He told her. She closed her eyes, this time seeming to make the strange sensation stop before it made her dizzy. When she opened her eyes, she was across the clearing. "Wonderful. Now, attack me. I'm going to fade but I want you to imagine fading to me when I fade."

She lunged at him. He faded and then she closed her eyes and faded to him. She was suddenly rolling on the ground with him and she clawed her heart out.

"Oh, my Star clan! I'm really-" Mapleshade cut her off ,

"Never speak of that horrid place her, ever." She snapped. She stormed off and then Lithepelt stood up, shaking the blood off.

"Well done, now it is time for you to get back. You have done very well for your first time." She tilted her head, not knowing what he meant by 'it is time for you to get back', and why Mapleshade yelled at her, but then everything disappeared, and she woke up in here nest.

She stood up and shook the moss off her. Dawn light filtered into the den. Her legs hurt from running. She stood up and decided to go for a walk. She walked further into the forest, careful to not stray over the border this time.

"Hey, Moonpaw!" She turned as she heard her name called. It was Mosspaw.

"What are you doing here?! You could get caught!" She whisper-yelled at him.

"I know, I know. But I wanted to talk to you for second." He explained.

"Well you did, so go before someone sees you." Mosspaw sighed and then spoke,

"Meet me at the abandoned two-leg nest tonight." She nodded and then he walked off. She walked back to camp, hunting a mouse before she got there.

"Hey, put that in the fresh kill pile, then come with me." Stripeclaw said as soon as she arrived. She did as she was told and then followed her father back outside.

They soon arrived at a small clearing where her mother and siblings were waiting. Once she was settled, her mother spoke,

"Your father and I have decided to take you away from the clan for a while in case war breaks out among Willowclan and Cloudclan. We are Cloudclan's ally but, I don't want you to get hurt. But we won't be far from the clan." She finished. A few minutes passed and then Sunpaw spoke first,

"Where will we be going?"

"The abandoned two-leg nest." Their mother responded. Moonpaw stiffened, if we go there, me and Mosspaw could get caught.
