Most off us were fatigued beyond belief but before we could just collapse and sleep, we had to search for the injured.

I went around and tried to collect my arrows back as well as search for my missing axe and bow. I sighed in relief as I found the axe, embedded in the skull of an unlucky Uruk. I was quite difficult to dislodge it but it finally came free. My bow had thankfully survived and was still intact as well.

I saw Gimli sat atop a pile of Uruks, smoking his pipe and humming to himself.

Me and Legolas made our way over to him as the rest of the Rohirrim soldiers searched the dead.

"Final count," Legolas smirked, examining his bow for any marks, "Forty two."

"Forty two?" Gimli asked, modding his head in approval, "That's not bad for a pointy-eared Elvish Princeling. I myself am sitting pretty on forty three," he smirked, taking another puff from his pipe.

Legolas quickly grabbed an arrow from his quiver and nocked it onto his bow before firing said arrow into the Uruk beneath Gimli.

"Forty three," He said smugly, making me chuckle.

"He was already dead." Gimli grumbled.

"He was twitching." Legolas shrugged.

"He was twitching cause he's got my axe embedded in his nervous system!" Gimli growled as he moved his axe (which was stuck in the orc's skull) and it began to twitch.

"Boys!" I said, stepping between them before they caused a commotion, "You two don't have to fight over first place!"

They looked at me as if I had gone mad only to make me smirk proudly.

"You can fight over second place instead because I got fifty." I smirked, much to their distain.

Gimli muttered a few curses under his breath but didn't question me. I turned to Legolas then.

"I never did thank you for saving my life a few times back there," I started quietly, "Well, thank you."

"You would've done the same for me," He shrugged the question off, slinging his bow over his shoulders.

"You sound so sure of that," I turned to him with a sly smirk, "How do you know I wouldn't have just left you there to die?"

"You kissed me, remember? I don't think you would've left me behind," it was his turn to smirk, mine fading slightly at the mention of the short-lived kiss.

"Don't flatter yourself, Princess," I scoffed, "I thought we may never see the sun again so I-"

I didn't have a chance to finish the sentence as Legolas quickly closed the distance between us and placed one hand on my waist, the other on my cheek and drew me into a kiss.

It was his turn to surprise me. Before, I had surprised him and caught him off guard, now he had done the same.

I tensed up at his touch and could barely move. It wasn't a long kiss nor a deep one, just a simple one.

Just as I had done to him, the second I fathomed the idea of relaxing, he pulled away with a smirk, leaving me rooted to the spot awkwardly.

Gimli and a couple of the Rohirrim soldiers were staring at me now, making my cheeks flush with embarrassment.

Gimli busrt into laughter as Legolas quickly turned and left me standing there with all this unwanted attention.

I growled in frustration and was about to follow after him and cut him into small pieces when Gimli got up and grabbed me by the arm.
