Weekend Hangout

Garrett told his parents about what he wanted to do this weekend, and his parents were alright with him hanging out with Starlight at her house. It turned out Starlight's father was going on a business trip and he didn't want his daughter to be home alone, so he wanted Starlight to have company, and Garrett seemed like good company. Garrett and Sunset's parents were okay with Garrett sleeping over at Starlight's house. Soon Saturday came, and Garrett got ready. He cleaned himself up and dressed into some clean clothes, packing a spare set of clothes, his pajamas, a toothbrush, and his sleeping bag. Soon the afternoon came, and Starlight drove in with her car. Garrett was outside with Sunset. "That's Starlight," said Garrett as he stood up, "I'll see you, Mom, and Pop late Sunday evening."

"Alright, you and Starlight have fun," said Sunset as Garrett put his things in the car and got in. Garrett looked at Starlight and said, "Hey Starlight. You look great." Starlight smirked and teased, "therefore I have value?" Garrett gave an embarrassed look and Starlight laughed, "I'm messing with ya! You look great too. You ready to have fun?" Garrett chuckled and said, "I sure am." Starlight drove all the way to her house, and they got out, Garrett carrying his packing bag. Starlight's father George came out of the house and said, "ah, so you must be one of Starlight's friends. Nice to meet you." Garrett shook George's hand and replied, "you as well Mr. Glimmer." George smiled and said, "good grip. I like that. I certainly hope you don't try and do anything to take advantage of my daughter..." Starlight gave an embarrassed look and said, "Daaaaaad!" Garrett shook his head no and said, "no sir, I would never do anything despicable like that..." George chuckled and said, "that's what I like to hear. And I was just messing with ya." Starlight smirked and said, "you can see where I get my playful teasing from. I'm just glad to see our teasing doesn't go over your head." This caused Garrett to laugh. "Anyway, there's plenty of food in the fridge and freezer," said George, "help yourselves to it, and there's also money for pizza. I should be back by late Sunday afternoon. Hopefully the house is still intact when I come home late afternoon tomorrow. I love you Starlight." His daughter hugged back and replied, "love you too Daddy." She and Garrett waved goodbye as George got into his car and drove off. Once he was out of sight, Starlight and Garrett went inside, and Garrett put his stuff down on the stairs, taking off his sneakers to make himself at home. Starlight made some popcorn, and then they sat on the couch, getting ready to watch the film. "Prepare to laugh and scream," said Starlight as she smiled at Garrett. She then played the movie.

Garrett and Starlight watched the movie, eating popcorn and candy, and drinking soda. Sometimes Garrett would hold Starlight's hand if something scared him. But he found the movie to be funny, scary, smart, and the perfect deconstruction and love letter to everything horror related. When they ran out of popcorn, Garrett moved closer to Starlight. When another scare came, Starlight jumped a little and held onto Garrett. Once the movie was over, Garrett smiled and said, "thanks for showing me this movie Starlight. I really liked it." Starlight smiled and said, "I'm glad you did." They were holding hands. "There's one thing I don't understand," said Garrett, "now I get that the engineers needed to ascertain sacrifices to label them the whore, athlete, fool, nerd, and virgin for the Ancient Ones. But Dana had an affair with a college teacher, and Jules never had sex with Curt beforehand... Why make Dana the virgin and make Jules the whore? I think they could've worked with Jules being the virgin..." During the time Garrett was talking, Starlight had taken her boots off because her feet hurt, and she wanted to put her bare feet on the couch. But then Starlight was stumped with what Garrett had to say. She put her feet on Garrett's lap and said, "huh... That's actually a good question. Definitely would have been an interesting outcome... Whether Jules would have believed Marty, I don't know... But hey, they worked with what they got." Garrett shrugged and said, "yeah, good point. Besides, what I'm thinking is just a small nitpick. Still, that was a good film. We should definitely show that to the rest of the girls, including Sunset." Starlight laughed, "I just hope Twilight and Fluttershy can deal with the scary parts. Still, are you having fun right now?"

"I sure am," said Garrett, "thanks for inviting me over." Starlight scooted closer and said, "I'm glad you're enjoying my company, Garrett. You're a very nice guy." She looked into his cyan eyes. "You're pretty nice yourself Starlight," replied Garrett as he looked into her modern Persian blue eyes. The heat was starting to rise in their cheeks as they moved closer to each other. "Garrett, can I ask you something?" Starlight asked, "you don't have to answer if you're uncomfortable." Garrett nodded and said, "go ahead." Starlight played with Garrett's fiery hair and asked, "has anyone ever kissed you?" Garrett shook his head and said, "I have never been kissed." Starlight fiddled with her hair and asked, "you wouldn't mind if I was the girl who gave you your first kiss, would you?" She was cursing herself on the inside, reprimanding herself for being the opposite of subtle. "Sure," admitted Garrett, "I wouldn't mind being kissed by you Starlight. Especially since you're one of the prettiest girls I know." Starlight smiled, knowing this was one of the reasons she had a crush on Garrett. He was such a sweetheart. She moved towards him, slowly closing her eyes. Garrett moved closer to Starlight. But before Garrett could experience his first kiss, something went bump inside Starlight's garage. Starlight opened her eyes and asked, "did you hear that?" Garrett nodded and said, "some strange noise went bump in your garage. What if it's a bear?"

"That's unlikely," doubted Starlight, "there are no bears in Canterlot." Garrett put his sneakers on and said, "I'm gonna check. Mind if I borrow that hunting gun?" He walked over to the shelf that had an old hunting rifle hanging on the wall. "Just be careful with that," warned Starlight, "that hunting rifle belonged to my great, great grandfather. I wouldn't want it to bust..." She was starting to get worried. "Don't worry, I'll be fine," said Garrett, "what could possibly go wrong?" Little did he and Starlight know was that things were about to get very strange...
