Nothing Like Shredder

After letting Sonic stay with Raphael's family, Garrett and Starlight went back to her house. They watched another movie and ate pizza for dinner. Much later it was nighttime, and Starlight and Garrett decided to sleep in the living room. Starlight was on the couch while Garrett was on the floor with a sleeping bag. The two of them both couldn't sleep. "You okay, Garrett?" Starlight asked. "Yeah, I'm just thinking about Sonic," said Garrett, "I hope he's okay with the Hamatos."

"I'm sure he'll be alright," assured Starlight. Garrett sat up, looking like a worm as he asked, "Starlight, do you think I'm like Shredder?" Starlight looked at Garrett and asked, "what makes you think that?" Garrett looked at Starlight and said, "well, I listened to Splinter's story about how Shen chose him over Saki and how that was a contributing factor to his transformation into Shredder. It kinda reminds me of how I had a crush on Twilight, but she wants to be with Leonardo, which I totally respect by the way, even if I'm not happy..."

"Well there's a major difference between you and Shredder," said Starlight, "Saki was so infatuated with Shen, that he allowed the jealousy and envy turn into anger and hatred, and he allowed that anger and hatred to consume him to a point that he was willing to go to extreme lengths to be with Shen, unable to face that reality, move on, and cope with it. What did you do when Twilight rejected you?" Garrett thought it over and said, "I reluctantly let it be. I told her I was willing to respect her relationship with Leo, and I was fine being friends with her. Also because I like Leo. He's brave, strong, and a natural-born leader I respect. Yeah, I was sad, but it doesn't hurt as much. I'm learning to move on. It's a little hard, but it gets easier every now and then." Starlight smiled and said, "then you're nothing like Shredder, Garrett. You're willing to put Twilight first over yourself, and unlike Shredder, you're willing to face that reality. And I'm sure Twilight and Leo respect you for that. You're not a bad guy, Garrett. Remember that." Garrett laid back and said, "thanks Starlight. I needed to hear that. I don't mean to sound like Homer Simpson, but you're as pretty as Princess Leia and as smart as Yoda." Starlight blushed and said, "oh stop, Garrett! You are such a sweetheart." There was silence for a few moments as Garrett and Starlight both blushed, smiling while looking up at the ceiling. "You think Sonic might like Rainbow Dash?" Garrett asked. Starlight laughed and said, "most definitely. He might be a good match for her speed."

Garrett and Starlight slept the rest of the night. Then morning came. A few hours after that, Starlight decided to drop Garrett back at home. They were outside the Shimmer household. "Well, despite the fact that an anthropomorphic extraterrestrial blue hedgehog came out of nowhere, this weekend was fun," said Garrett, "thanks for inviting me Starlight." He looked into her moderate Persian blue eyes. Starlight smiled and said, "no problem Garrett. Thanks for keeping me company. There's something I forgot to do though..." Garrett gave a confused looked and asked, "what's that?" Starlight hesitated then said, "this." She kissed Garrett on the cheek, surprising Garrett. "I owe you a real kiss later," said Starlight, "don't let me forget." She playfully winked at him. Garrett got his packing bag and sleeping bag, waving goodbye to Starlight. As he went inside, Garrett Shimmer was starting to debate with himself on whether he had romantic feelings for Starlight Glimmer.
