An au in which gems are wild, so they hunt and gather, go into heat and have gemlings, and built dens and nests, they produce milk when they have gemlings. They also walk on all fours and hold gemlings like how cats hold kittens.
But they have one enemy; humans. The humans poach them for their gem shards to make jewelry with, and their gemlings to sell to people as pets or to use as livestock and to get milk, shards, or just gemlings to sell off for more money.
