Laura gasped. Hadn't Bridget seen what the evil woman wanted to do to her? Why in the world should she save her?
"Bridget!" exclaimed Laura. "Why would you do that?!"
Laura knew that Bridget had always been a kind-hearted girl, but this had gone way too far.
Bridget had hopped off the Extractor and was helping Principal Carine sit down in a chair. "Because I know how it feels, it hurts."
Laura looked confused. "How what feels?"
Bridget fixed her with a look and looked drearily at the Extractor.
Laura nodded. She understood now.
Principal Carine slumped in her chair, weak and exhausted.
Meanwhile, Lily was running over to hug Cora.
"You're back!" Lily cried. "You're the real you!"
Cora looked a little sheepish. "I'm sorry about the way I acted last time."
Lily shrugged. "It's okay, I've acted pretty terribly too, I'm sorry ."
They hugged.
"Bridget, please take your magic back from me." said Laura, looking at her feet. "You saw how I acted then."
Bridget held Laura's hand. "It doesn't matter. I'll always be there to stop you, if you get carried away. You can keep my magic."
Laura smiled.
Slumped on a chair, was Principal Carine. Her magic was gone and given to the little annoying Bridget.
Principal Carine gritted her teeth. Why does good always win? Why don't they see how much she needs the magic? She didn't think she can survive without magic.
Bridget watched sympathetically, as Principal Carine scrunched up her face, taking gasping breaths. She knew what was happening.
Miss Carine could no longer live without magic.
So this is how it works. If you use magic for good, your magic will slowly grow stronger. If you use magic for evil, you will slowly rely on it more and more. Until you can't live without leaching out other people's magic.
Bridget's heart was filled with pity. She drew closer to Principal Carine, and touched her forehead with her index finger.
Principal Carine saw what Bridget was doing and closed her eyes, steadying her breaths.
"Fliversa." Bridget whispered.
Her finger glowed. Miss Carine's forehead glowed too.
Slowly, white lines started coming out of her forehead. Thin, wispy silver lines, made out of something in between gas and liquid.
Then, Miss Carine fell back in the chair.
Laura ran up to Bridget. "What did you do?"
"I did the Fliversa spell." she replied. "It lets Miss Carine live without draining other people's magic."
Laura looked confused, so Bridget explained.
"It can only be performed by a person whose heart is pure and genuinely wants to help the other." Bridget blushed. "And it seems that no one wanted to help Miss Carine before."
Miss Carine held Bridget's hands.
"Thank you so much Bridget." she gushed, shaking Bridget's hand. Then her face darkened. "But that won't be necessary."
