Recap:

Hontoni ganbareyo minna... Yukihime cheered them on mentally as she brought her fist down to grasp in front of her chest.

Finally, the speakers sounded, "On your mark... Get set..."

BZZT! GO!

The relation started off with Riku and the person he was matched up with, Hachiya Tetsu. As they ran, the sportscasters gave commentary. "Both schools get off to a good start. What drama will we see here in Shinjuku today?"

From what Yukihime could see on the screen, Riku had started off really fast and well ahead of their opponent. This would be seen as something good from the perspective of someone who did not know Stride well but in Yukihime's eyes, and in most of the athletes' eyes, this could be bad. Ri-kun... He's going to lose stamina if he doesn't pace himself. He looks tired out already. She furrowed her brows in worry.

His opponent must have said something to him... Yukihime clicked her tongue with a 'tch'.

The orange-haired girl shook her head, shaking off the negative thoughts and hoping that Riku would pull through. She watched as Riku's face crunched on the screen, his purple-haired opponent looked to be smirking behind him. She widened her eyes in the realisation of what Hachiya was planning. "Masaka[1]! Ri-kun!" She yelled, as if he could hear her but he couldn't, which was why he thought he could just cut the male off by running in front of him.

But to his surprise, the red-uniformed male just swerved and rush out from behind Riku and avoided his block.

As I thought... He planned it! Yukihime thought as she clenched her fists by her side. I can't even say if that was a smart move by Hachiya or just evil.

She watched the screen as Riku suddenly slowed down a little, a shocked look clear on his face through the large screen. Ri-kun... Don't give up so easily... You want to catch up to Tomoe-kun right?

Don't give up!!

The screen showed Riku's face turn from a lost one to a determined one. Yukihime showed a small smile as she watched him run with a stronger determination than when he started. "Go go go! Ri-kun~ !" Yukihime cheered as she watched the boy pick up speed. Dan-sensei and Diane just watched from the sidelines as the girl enthusiastically cheered for her teammates. They smiled in amusement at the girl, one with a brighter smile than the other. They have a personal cheerleader. They both internally unknowingly joked at the same time. Yukihime watched as Heath started up, chasing after his teammate.

Riku was quickly losing steam again but he knew Heath was catching up to him, so he reached out his hand to pass on the 'baton' to Heath. As Heath clapped his hand with Riku, the latter just lost all feeling in his legs and slumped onto the pavement and apologised to the former. But Heath wasn't upset at all as he held a hand up and praised his junior, "Good spirit, Yagami!"
