Beverly and Anthony stood at their baby blue lockers talking.
"So, when is Harry getting back?" Anthony asked.
"He might come back for Christmas. If not, then we'll see him next year," Beverly informed while closing her locker. Tiffany Bonin then walked over from her locker on the opposite side of the hallway. Anthony gave Beverly a wide-eyed warning look before hiding his face behind his locker door.
"Hey..." Tiffany sang, standing in front of Bev.
"Hi, Tiffany." She replied dully, looking away while opening and closing her locker door.
"So, it's our last year of high school and I'm hoping to get Jack to ask me out." Tiffany pointed to Jack Simpson, who was talking with his girlfriend of 3 years, Lia Knowles.
"Okay, how 'bout you gossip about dudes in relationships with your popular girlfriends. You know the ones who gossip." Anthony cut in. She left. Beverly and Anthony watched Chris Arbie and her bully boyfriend Jayce walk off toward one bathroom.
"Ew," Beverly muttered.
"It's been three years," Anthony stated.
"I've honestly just stopped caring." Beverly plainly stated. "Anyway, have you seen Laura anywhere?" she asked.
"Not since yesterday," Anthony answered.
Meanwhile, in the other locker hallway, Laura opened up her locker, and a folded-up note fell out. She picked it up and read what it said.
The bell rang.
"Bleachers?" Anthony guessed.
"Bleachers." Beverly agreed.
While walking through the hallways heading to the other side of the school to get to the bleachers, Matthew Charleston ran down the other direction while dribbling a basketball and accidentally knocked down the bullion board in front of them.
"Aw shit." He muttered.
"I'll help you out," Beverly stated while picking up some papers. The two put the papers back onto the board and Matthew walked off after thanking Bev. She noticed a smaller rectangle piece of paper on the ground and picked it up. Bev pocketed it after reading what it said.
The two friends sat down on the dark blue bleachers on the side of the basketball court, Beverly sat one bleacher higher than Anthony. Roman Salem and Peter Okland sat on the bleachers, one bleacher below Anthony.
"Hey Beverly, do you own any other pants? I've only seen you wear those blue ones since the first day." Peter inquired.
"No Peter, I don't have any other pants," Beverly snapped back, " not everyone has the privilege of having their lumberjack father shop for them."
Anthony stifled a laugh, putting his hand on his mouth to not make much noise. Beverly turned to him, lightly laughing. Anthony, Peter, and Roman took out their lunches, which were just some sandwiches from the sandwich restaurant near the school. Almost all of the students went there to get something for lunch. Beverly laid her head back looking up at the always cloud-covered sky. She didn't have lunch since she didn't have time to make one in the morning and didn't have any money to buy one from the sandwich shop. Roman took notice of this,
"Are you not going to eat?" He asked.
"Not hungry," Beverly answered dully. It was silent for about 5 minutes. Beverly took her necklace out from under her shirt, keeping her fist tightly around the charm so no one could see it, and moved the chain so the clip that held it together was at the back of her neck then put the necklace back under her shirt.
"I didn't know you wore a necklace," Peter stated trying to start a conversation.
"Yeah, few people do," Beverly replied.
"How come?"
"Right, I'm out. I'll be in the library." Beverly stood up and started walking down the bleachers.
"Beverly-" Anthony got cut off by a crash being heard from the parking lot. The four looked at each other before ditching their things and running towards the crash. The students and staff stood around a red pony car where Laura Dawson laid dead on the front. It cracked the windshield where her face lay. She seemed to have fallen from the roof. In the crowd, there were cries of shock.
"HOLY SHIT!" Beverly shouted out.
