The flat Harry’s family owned wasn’t the best, but it wasn’t the worst either. It was in a complex that had an adorable elderly couple that worked the lobby. The stairs were carpeted and didn’t smell of urine or any other obnoxious chemical. The elevator worked for days I didn’t feel like walking, but I wouldn’t take it alone, that would be to panic causing.

Mum and Dad trailed behind Harry and I as we passed each flight of stairs. My heart was pounding with a lethal mix of fear and excitement. As we passed onto level G Harry turned down the hall, checking the number on the outside until stopping directly in front of the desired one. Reaching in his sport coat, he pulled out the key. It wasn’t anything magical looking, like something from Harry Potter, it was black. A basic black, but as I turned it over in my hands I saw the little red heart printed on the wider portion.

His lips parted in a breathless giggle, “Now you can say you have the key to my heart.” And honestly, I just about died, because this was Harry and he didn’t do a lot for me, and this meant the world. I didn’t want to cry, but I could feel the heat of the tears starting to bubble because I was now living alone, I was grown up, and Harry loved me-it was all a little too much.

Harry placed a gentle kiss on my head, just barely skimming the wisps of hair that were curling away. “Go on, open it. This is the first step of adulthood.”

“Shut up Harry.” I whimpered turning the key in the hold, pushing it open. The room was dark, the blinds closed. I could sense what was about to happen, but decided to let it happen anyway. I felt around blindly for the light switch. As I found it, I flicked it upward, pouring light into the room.

“SURPRISE!!!” A chorus echoed throughout the small space revealing the motley crew I was friends with.

My face flushed from all the attention as I choked out a thank you. My parents entered behind us, searching the apartment. I knew they’d check every little thing out about it, before actually letting me live here.

They seemed content with it causing Zayn and Louis to fist bump each other. “So what do you think?” Harry whispered in my ear, his tongue flicking on the skin while my parents weren’t looking.

“I love it! I, thank you, I, I don’t know what else to say.” There were a million different phrases running threw my head and words I needed to express, but I just couldn’t get it out.

My momentary muteness didn’t seem to bother anyone, though. Louis and Zayn swaggered over, each clawing at me for a hug. As I was pressed against Zayn’s chest, the faint smell of marijuana met my nose, causing it to crinkle.

“Is that a no?” Louis asked with a smug grin.

“No, that’s a don’t get close to my parents.”

Leo ran my way, leaping into my arms, his arms tightening around my neck. “I’m going to miss you.” He cried while his tiny tears hit my shoulders.

Hugging him closer, I cooed to him. “I’m still going to see you, I’m still coming back to Holmes Chapel whenever I can, don’t worry little guy. You’ll be with Harry.”

He sniffled a little, nodding. He continued to cling to me as my parents finished up their inspection. I knew they liked it, and I could tell they were ready to go home. Passing Leo to Harry, I walked into their embrace. Mum was crying, Dad was crying, I was trying not to.

“You know, if this gets too much, just to call right? With the way your Mum drives we could be here in an hour tops.”

I nodded hugging them goodbye. “I love you. I’ll come home before the end of holiday.”

They nodded, leaning onto each other. Maybe me moving out would be good for them, maybe it could help them reconnect with each other. Maybe I was lying to myself. I watched them leave. I watched them ascend down the stairs. Shutting the door, I pressed my back against it, breathing in deeply and closing my eyes.

A vanilla scent indicated Nina was the one who was hugging me first. “You okay?”

I nodded, not trusting myself. “You know,” Niall’s gritty accent called from what I figure was the kitchen because that just seemed like a place he’d be, “you shouldn’t bottle everything up Katherine. Tiny body like you can’t handle too much.”

“I’m fine. I’m okay. Really.” I assured hugging Nina back, gently pushing her away to go reach Harry. His lanky tattooed arms slithered around me, gently constricting me to his side.

“You know what I think?” He asked in his seductive raspy tone.

“What?” I mumbled, my face stuffed into his ribcage, in haling his musky yet minty scent.

“We let Leo go stay with Uncle Liam and Aunt Nina, so Uncle Louis and Uncle Zayn and the two of us can discuss the important matters at hand.” I scoffed a laugh, wriggling out from under him. Gently patting his chest, I took Leo, who was already getting ready to fall asleep, over to Nina.

“You guys can all come back later, just for now, you know.” I was doing something illegal and that felt great, but I didn’t want Leo seeing and getting the wrong idea.

“We will, have fun.” Liam wiggled his eye brows in a suggestive manner, following Nina out and shutting the door.

Identical Cheshire smiled crossed the lad’s faces, “Katherine, dear, go chose a record to spin on that lovely turn table of yours, and we’ll get started.”

I knew my parents would kill me if they ever found out. I knew Harry could lose Leo if anyone found out. Yet, I did as I was told, because the Katherine before Harry was not me now.

a/n: Thoughts on this? Any where you want this to go? Right now, it's looking hazy, no pun intended, about the direction this book will end up. I feel like I'm in a corner as to where Harry and Katherine will end up. So just comment, I guess. Does anybody even want to keep this book going? If not tell me so I'm not wasting my time.
