"Do you have a death wish!" My uncle roars from across the table, slamming his fist down on the table, "Do you want to end up like your mother and father!" I twirl the wine in my cup, watching it slosh around in my goblet. I tune out my uncle's lecture, taking a deep drink, feeling the warmth of the wine take effect. My ears buzz and my head swirls pleasantly.
"Let them do what they like." I whisper; knowing the only reason I was alive is because of my best friend, Cecilia. She had been a house servant and hid me away in a hidden cupboard when they had come for me. I watched through a crack as the slit her throat, throwing her lifeless body on the floor before setting the house on fire. I had barely escaped with my life, if you could call this living. No, I was done hiding.
"Amelia please. I lost your mother; I refuse to lose you too. You will apologize or I will have you confined your quarters. These... abilities of yours are dangerous. I won't watch you destroy yourself!" I roll my eyes, pushing my chair back to leave when I hear the door to the dining hall open.
"Sit down Amelia. My guests will be joining us for dinner, and you WILL behave as a proper young woman."
"Very well uncle. As you wish." I sit as Klaus, Rebecca, and Elijah make their way to the table. My uncle takes his place at the head of the table, Rebecca and Elijah taking their place on the opposite side and Klaus takes a seat next to me, a smirk on his face.
"How's your hand Klaus? I hope you learned your lesson about touching others without consent." My uncle chokes as I take a sip of my wine.
"I dare say I have never seen someone so.... Vocal towards Nicklaus." Elijah remarks with a chuckle. Rebecca says nothing and Klaus scoffs.
"Hmm yes dear brother. Seems Amelia here is different in a number of ways." My uncle coughs again; this time glaring daggers at me. I eat silently, all too aware that Klaus has not taken his eyes off me since he sat down. Dinner is uneventful and soon everyone retires as I make my way to the library. It's the one place I still find a sense of peace. Settling in front of the fire I pull out one of my favorite books that I hadn't read since the last time I was here. Just as I start to read, I see a shadow flicker across the room.
"Well fancy meeting you here." Klaus says, standing behind me. I can feel his breath on my neck as I continue reading, attempting to ignore the fact that he was there. After a few minutes of him standing behind me, I sigh, closing my book.
"Can I help you Klaus, or are you just here to irritate me further?" Klaus chuckles, settling next to me, placing his arm on the back of the couch. He leans in and kisses me; suddenly and with such passion I hesitate to pull away for a moment. Klaus takes advantage of my hesitation and attempts to pull me closer to him. I pull away, breathless.
"Niklaus!" I jump up, slapping him as hard as I can. "You should perhaps show some decency! How dare you try to take advantage of me in my uncle's home! If you cannot control yourself then I must take my leave." My cheeks burn as I make my way towards the library door, which Klaus had evidently shut behind him. He is beside me before I have the chance to open it. He doesn't say a word as he pushes me against the door. He kisses me again, deeper and with more passion than before. 'I know this is improper.... But there is just something about this man that drives me crazy and intrigues me at the same time. I had shown him what I can do, and he isn't the slightest bit afraid of me.' Getting carried away in our passionate embrace I failed to notice that my uncle had entered the room. He clears his throat as Klaus and I pull away.
"Uncle... It's ... not what it looks like. I can explain." I stammer, attempting to straighten my dress and my hair.
"Go upstairs Amelia. Klaus and I need to have a conversation." I nod, quickly leaving the room. My mind is racing; what had I done? I had potentially ruined my uncle's chance of finding me a suitable husband.... Unless... No, he would never pair me with Klaus. After all he held no standing as far as I knew; but, being paired with Klaus would not be the worst outcome here. He was incredibly handsome after all.... And that kiss.... Could I have finally met my match in every way?
