STUCK IN A BOOK

CHAPTER 2.

I took the bus back home with Megan, her parents were gonna be late so she's deciding to come over. "So, have you thought of the university you want to go to?", I asked her as I took out my phone.

"Haven't made a choice yet, but soon enough. Why you asking?", she asked with a knowing smile on her face. Here we go.

"Nothing, just concerned", I said starting a game on my phone.

"Awwwn, you're asking so you could go with me", she started squealing. "You missing me already, how sweet". She said placing her hand over my game and the other on her chin with a wide grin on her face.

"Hey.. I'm not missing you, I mean, we see almost every day of our lives".

"More reason why you're gonna miss me, don't you think?".

"Girl, whatever"

"Yea, whatever, even if you don't say it, I'll miss you too".

"What, now you sound like you're planning on going to different schools"

"Haa, I knew it, you do want to go to the same school as me". Well, she's right but you don't always have to say it directly.

"Hey look, we're home", I said jump off the bus quickly to avoid more drama. Door was open so we just walked in. "Mom!!, I'm home!", I yelled as I made my way to the kitchen to get me some juice. I got pulpy orange, my fave for me and Megan. "Want one?", she nodded and I tossed it for her knowing she wouldn't catch it and she glared at me. "Mom!, you home?".

"Yes baby, I'm on the phone with your sister's teacher, be there in a minute", she answered from her room. Seconds later she comes down the stairs with an apron.

"Have you guys had something to eat?, I was about to round up lunch, why you back so early, you know when I was your age school was like an escape", there, she does the thing she does all the time, asks questions without letting us answer and jumps into another story.

"Mom, we're good, but if you tell us this story you might set the kitchen on fire".

"Young man don't you lecture me on how to run my kitchen, you know back then we I lived with my mom", the alarm from the microwave interrupted this story. "Oh my", she said as she turned around and I held Megan's hand and ran upstairs to escape a story on how to handle a microwave.

"We live in the same house Zack Foster", she yelled from the kitchen when she noticed we were gone. We both went into my room and I loved the doorband leaned against it, I looked at Megan who was looking at me. The stare lasted for about five seconds and we just started laughing. The perfect moment was interrupted when we heard a knock on the door.

"Who's there?", I asked. "Its Maddie, your sweet little sister, please let me in", she said sounding so adorable. "Stop the sweet act, we both know you're here because Megan's here".

"You're right, so please let me in". Hurtful. I opened the door slightly and bent to her height. "But there's still a slight chance you're here because of me right?"

"Yea, totally, why not", sarcastic but fair enough. I let her in to her a time with Meg while I took a shower. I came out about fifteen minutes later with just a towel and I caught Meg staring at me. "Like what you see?", I said as I walked into the closet. "Eeeew, noo, get some clothes on". I laughed out loud on purpose so she'd hear it. I got dressed in a short and sleeveless top.

"Can you walk me home now, my parent should be near and theyre not with their spare key", she said ignoring the little scene that just happened. "Sure, ready when you are".

"Ok Maddie, always fun talking with you, make sure you don't tell Zack here anything we said". Meg said and gave Maddie a hug.

"Wait, what?"

"Nothing", Maddie said with a smile and walked Megan out the room. "Mom, I'm walking Megan back home".

"But I just made lunch, Megan hun why not stay for lunch".

"Thank you so much for the offer Mrs Foster, but I need to get home before my parent do, don't want to keep outside".

"Alright then, Zack will take you home, say hi to mom and dad okay?".

"I sure will", she says as my mom pull her into a hug. Megan's place is just at the next street, so its pretty close to ours. "Zack. One more thing, your dad and I will like to show you something when you're back", my moms says as we walked outside. "Okay mom".

We got to Meg's home. She opened the door before turning back to me. "So Maddie and mom get a hug and you're just gonna stare at me now", I said smiling.

"Ohh, you're such a baby", she roles her eyes before she steps down to give me a hug. "You could've just said you wanted one", she winked and went inside. "Goodbye to you too Megan!!", I said and made my way back home.

I went inside and it was all quiet. "Mom?, dad?", I didn't get a reply so I went to my room. I tried to unlock it when I found out it was already open. I went in to see my parent looking at pictures of me when I was a baby and laughing. "Oh hey there Zack", my dad said as he noticed that I walked in.

"Hey dad. So, you guys wanted to show me pictures of little me.., and how'd you get in my room".

"I own the house, I have spare keys to every room, and before you ask, we waited before we came in", my dad said before to turning back to my pictures.

"Anyways", my mom said and put the pictures aside. "As much as we'd love to look at the pictures with you, we wanted to show you something else ", she says as my dad pulls and old box from the side of my bed. "What's that? ", I asked and sat down beside them. "Its the best of your grandmother's books. She wanted any of her grandchildren who loved books the way she did to have them". In my surprise I couldn't say anything so I just opened the box to see different books. Without looking at the names I skim through all of them until I found one.

"This one, it has blank pages", I said showing it to them.

"That's right Zack, she wanted you to finish the book for her".
