Hey again! Okay the reason I've been updating really fast is because I have more chapters written than uploaded on this site :) So don't expect all my updates to be this often.
Anyways this is the chapter of Miranda and Duncan's first impression in the bigger school. You learn a lot about their classmates and friends...soo pay close attention. Remember that what appear to be little details in my writing all have a purpose in the end.
Welp, I hope you like it.

Chapter IV
🚌High school. It was supposed to be the 'best years of my life' according to old people, but graduates told me it was the worst thing they ever experienced. I remember going into it with an open mind. Maybe it wasn't going to be all that bad, but I always knew that high school wasn't just going to be all fun and games either. It was about getting the grades and preparing yourself for college, at least that how I saw it then.
I don't know what Duncan was thinking. Playing on the basketball team, upperclassmen friends, student sections at football games maybe. All I knew was that he definitely wasn't thinking about the whole education part about it. I glanced over to the bus seat opposite of me. He looked out the window with his white earbuds in his ears. He had a black colored cast on his left leg, and his two silver crutches sat leaned against the back of the cushioned seat. Duncan could be smart if he wanted to be. I mean obviously he would never have any common sense, but in school, I knew he could do algebra if he really wanted to. That was his problem, he didn't want to do anything when it came to school unless it was screwing around or gym class. Maybe he would shape up. New school, new you right?
I too was sitting in a bus seat with white iPhone earbuds in my ears, although I wasn't paying attention to any song that was playing. All I could think about was high school and how incredibly nervous I was.
We pulled up to school, following the other yellow buses, looping around the back to the main entrance. The bus squeaked to stop, and the door swooshed open. Everyone stood up backpacks on, and for Duncan, a pair of crutches too. We filed out on to the sidewalk, trudging our way through the main door. I really don't think anyone was that excited to be here.
It was a hot day, as almost everyday in Florida was, but today was excessively hot. I guess this meant that girls wore booty shorts and crop tops to school. They did that in eighth grade too, but now it was more than half the girls in the school. Great, welcome to high school, where the dress code was less enforced than middle school, and girls took everyday of school as an opportunity to get guys drooling all over their desks. Great, just great.
I pushed open the door and took my first step into the first day of my high school career. Maybe this was supposed to be a magical moment, walking into a new phase of my life, to the best years of my life or something cheesy like that. I took a deep breath, inhale, exhale. Everything was going to be fine, and it was nothing but a bigger school with bigger people.
"You alright Randy?" Duncan looked down at me laughing. "You look like a you're gonna faint."
"Yeh," I took another deep breath. "Just a little nervous."
"Don't stress, we're gonna be fine." He beamed his still kiddish but bright smile.
We followed all the other freshmen into the auditorium. We had to receive some lame introduction speech from the principal and assistant principals. The auditorium was big and actually almost pretty. It had several hundred red movie theater style seats, and was built on a slant. The stage was shiny golden stained wood, and the closed curtains were a navy blue. The ceiling was very high, making the room feel so much larger than it probably was.
