"Ok, first day as an intern. I got this. Hopefully I will be able to control my emotions. Ok. Let's do this. You ready Ti-" she looked at the table in her apartment sadly. She forgot she didn't have the Kwami sometimes. She still had the miraculous, but it didn't feel right to use it. "Ok, I have about- TEN MINUTES?" she grabbed her bag and ran down the street, hoping she was going the right way.
"MISS, LOOK OUT!" the man was too late. Hot coffee spilled all over her cardigan. She winced and took off her cardigan, quickly, and fixed up her hair in a tight bun.
"I'm so sorry sir, how much was the coffee? I'll reimburse you for it." he shook his head and waved it off.
"It's fine, it's probably a good thing he won't get the coffee. He needs to sleep anyways." She laughed.
"Thank you, but I insist. Here." she shoved five dollars at the guy and ran into W.E. the guy walked in with a scowl.
"Seriously? You take this money back, or I will never leave you-"'
"Are you Miss Marinette?" the secretary at the front desk asked. Marinette nodded.
"Yes I am." the woman scowled.
"You are two minutes late. And on your first day too." the guy slung his arm around Marinette.
"Relax Edda, she's with me. It's my fault she's late anyways." Edda glared at him.
"Mister Grayson, that does not matter. It is her first day as an intern and she is late." the lady turned to Marinette, "Mister Drake is waiting for you. He's not in a good mood." Marinette felt her heart drop to her stomach as she was guided to the elevator by Dick. Before she knew it, they were already in front of the door. Dick knocked.
"Come in." a gruff and annoyed voice called out. Dick chuckled and opened the door.
"Hiya babybird! This is Mari, the new intern! She's late because of me so don't get mad at her please." Mr Drake turned his chair around. His face read annoyed and exhausted. He motioned to the chair across from him. She nervously sat down.
"Did they have the new coffee brew yet?" Drake looked at Dick. Dick looked around the room.
"Weeeell.... what happened was, I ran into Mari on my way in here and spilled the last cup..." Drake banged his head on the desk. When he sat back up, actual tears were streaming down his cheeks.
"Why Dick? Why must you hurt me in this way?" Dick snorted and Drake turned his head toward her.
"You were in on this." his face grew dark. Marinette crossed her arms.
"I wasn't in on anything. It was an accident. I can get you a cup of coffee from the employee's lounge or something like that, but it was just an accident." Drake's glare hardened.
"You are aware that the employee's lounge has really weak coffee, right?" A bright smile cracked over her face.
"That's why I always bring my own brew with me! Here!" she tossed him a ziplock bag of coffee grounds. He curiously took it and sniffed it. Dick snorted. Drake's jaw dropped.
"This- this is what I sent Dick out to get! Where did you find this? Where did it come from?" His face was no longer angry or annoyed, just curious.
"Did you just sniff the- It's a blend from the cafe across the street from my apartment." she beamed. Tim gave her a suspicious look.
"Something isn't right.... I don't trust that look on either one of your faces...." Dick rolled his eyes.
"Whatever Tim. Jay bird said he'll stop by later to pick up the package. He's very excited you know." Tim nodded.
