these are just questions that im assuming will be asked lol.
do we need to read the whole book?
this honestly depends on the person who's book ur reading, but if ur reading my book/following these guidelines, then i'd say it depends on how busy u r. as i said before, only if u aren't that busy―for ex. ur on summer break―then it is possible to read the person's whole story. but if school is in session for u, then i'd advise not reading the whole book only bc it's better to focus on ur grades. although if u r in school n u still wanna read, i'd advise u to set time for reading or just choose a book with less chapters (if that's an option). also, don't forgot to dm the writer to let them know ur not going to read their whole book if that's the case. i hope this helps!!
DISCLAIMER: feel free to use this sentence as a place to provide more questions. don't be afraid to ask―that's why i created this chapter :D
are we obligated to finish the book in a day?
okay, so, referring to the previous question it depends on how busy u r on a daily basis (ex. summer break vs school's in session), but even then we all want a break, so my answer is: no 💜. even if u r on break, take ur time. writers who are looking for more readers: this applies to u too.
what's the extent of correcting grammar (comments) on books we can go? in other words, how 'harsh' can we be?
as much as this question is mean or funny, i recommend u guys read this because even though books will have grammar mistakes―it's common!―it doesn't give u a right to go all sassy on them. for my guidelines, u simply have to be straightforward n just comment the grammar, or age/name mistakes the author has made, but be sure not to lash out on them! it's not nice, and it's most definitely not stated in the guidelines here―just point out the mistakes made n ur good! if, however, ur not satisfied with our guidelines u can dm the writer to let them know what kind of constructed feedback they're looking for.
if we choose option one, your book, how long will it take u to read my book?
okay, so, currently im a junior in highschool writing this n as much as i'd love to read y'all's works, i also need to focus on my grades. with that being said, i am constructing a schedule where i focus on my school AND wattpad, but i, unfortunately, will not be able to comment all the time on ur guys' works, which, i hope is fine. but i will be taking my time to read ur guys' books, so don't expect me to be done with ur book by tomorrow lmao―sometimes i might though, considering how short some books are!
can we choose what book we want to read, or is it up to the author?
ah―good question! if the writer doesn't have a preference, i'd say u can choose what book u want, but if the writer does make it explicitly clear in their dm to u, then, please do read their preferred book. for me, at least, im giving a choice to my readers, so i'd say, if im willing to be fair, i'd just choose a story to my content from their books! or if they currently only have one book, then that's easy!
what happens when the person's book who im reading isn't finished?
if u rlly like their book, then u should―of course!―keep it in ur library, but if ur not all that interested, be sure to let them know that u've finished what current chapters there are of their book n in return, they have to read/vote/comment the amount of chapters u've read/vote/commented on, or more if they're interested!
what if i don't want to read all the chapters of someone's book?
first: u should inform them n when they dm back (they have to be fine with it), u have to be precise with how many chapters u wanna read of their story. if in the middle u begin to be interested in their story let them know! n, maybe, in return, they'll express their gratitude towards u through votes/reads/comments!!
is it okay if i skim through the story?
first of all: thank u for being so honest!! i know skimming can be very tempting―im very guilty of doing this!―but u can refrain from doing so, by asking urself questions about the book to get ur curiosity stirring! if this isn't the case, then u can skip the details, like: his hair was as brown as chocolate, if not more. but PLEASE dont skim through the whole story, it's not nice, especially for the author! unless ur just providing ur vote though―das okay :)
what if im just voting―should i expect a vote back?
the term 'vfv' doesn't exist for no reason! even if u are just voting on a person's story, they are responsible for voting back if not already made clear :)
how flexible do we need to be with reading?
not too flexible. if u want, u can just read the book ur currently reading every other day for a minimum of three chapters! for ex: i usually read three chapters per day, or more if i have the time, but with school n all, im keeping it to three :)
are we obligated to read the whole story while commenting?
absolutely not! if u want, you can mix n match the options i gave u in the chapters above. for ex: u can read the first three chapters thoroughly, while commenting & voting—or not commenting—and finish the remaining story with votes, and, in return, the person has to do the same to ur story with their choice, but they HAVE to vote on all of ur chapters in ur story since u did.
