Chapter 3-
I stay with Joey for the whole night. He hasn't changed at all and he hasn't awoken since he changed into this black wolf. After watching him for an hour I realised that he must be uncomfortable so I moved him onto my bed in the hopes that he'd wake up but all he's done is whine every so often.
Early in the morning he finally begins to toss and turn and his eyes open slowly. I kneel in front of him until he wakes up completely and realises what's actually happening.
He tries to speak but all that comes out of his mouth is a doggish bark. His eyes widen and he jumps up. I place a hand on his back and run my fingers along the dark luxuriant fur. Almost instantly he lies back down and soon after he's eyes roll back in his head and he's snoring. A moment later his fur retreats back into his skin, his canines shrink and in a matter of seconds he's human again.
I cover the sheets over his naked body and slowly walk down to the kitchen. A note hangs on the fridge from my parents saying that they've gone shopping and won't be back until later. I pull it off and throw it in the bin before pulling out eggs, bacon and sausages.
As fast as I can I cook all two cartons of eggs and both packets of bacon and sausages. When they've finished cooking Joey comes stumbling down the stairs with a pair of boxers on, his face pale and eyes wide.
"Did that really just happen?" Joey asks, "Or was I dreaming?"
"It really happened." I reply, placing all of the food on the table in front of him.
He practically drools when he sees all the food. "You've got to be hungry by now. Starving even." I say and Joey wordlessly nods, already filling a plate up and digging in before I can utter another word.
Only when half the food is gone from his plate does he slow down enough to talk. "Aren't you going to have anything?" He asks, looking at the bare plate sitting on the table in front of me.
"I'm waiting until you finish." I explain. He simply raises an eyebrow before shrugging and going back to his food.
Finally when he's finished I fill up my plate and begin to eat.
I notice something finally click in Joeys mind. "This can't possibly be real, who the hell turns into a giant wolf?!"
"I know. It's hard to believe. I hardly believe it myself."
"Wait, so you're one too?" He asks in awe.
I nod my head, having another egg.
"This is so cool!" He screams and we both cringe at the volume. "Ouch."
"How is any of this cool?" I say, unbelieved that he'd say something like that.
"Well think about it. Both of us are werew-"
"Don't say that word." I say, cutting him off mid-sentence.
"Why not, it's what we are isn't it?" He says, "We are werewolves and there's no denying it."
"No. Werewolves are in fiction books and we are not a fiction book, we're far from it."
He shrugs, "We'd be a crappy fiction book anyway; who would waste their time reading about our lives?"
"As I was saying though," he continues, sending a pointed glare towards me, "We can be a team, a pack." He says as if the word has some great meaning.
"And how is that a change from being friends?" I explain, "To me it's no different."
"Why don't we at least look it up or something? We might at least be able to make a little sense out of this situation."
